I'm now the Operations Manager for a clinical Urgent Care facility with ambitious expansion plans. 30% pay increase and a chance to really position myself for bigger things.
Could not have done it without the BS, wouldn't be eligible without the Masters.
Networking was critical, not so much as it led to the job, but it helped show my employer that I had options. One of those options popped up at the last minute and I think that helped push my employer to sweeten the deal and made it fully worthwhile.
I kept raising my hand and volunteering for new challenges, its meant a full plate but every small success slowly added to the ledger and would lead inevitably to another.
I kept building relationships; HR, clinical leadership, the C Suite, and others all had a hand in leading me forward.
Most importantly, I found a senior mentor within my organization that became my champion. When this position became possible he pushed me forward and into it at my request. I think he worked to bump the pay range too, no one else had the pull to make that happen.
This weekend I'll celebrate a little and Monday start building an aggressive express care model that will strengthen both my organization and my community...I'm a rather happy guy right now.
Michael, I'm so proud of you!!!
