One simple path
#6
cookderosa Wrote:I think, for today, that I'm going to use Study.com during the spring semester for 2 of the high school classes for my 2 high schoolers. Everything else will stay the same. IF, and that's a huge if, I think it's a good fit for us, I will likely buy the Homeschool co-op special and get a year. That all being said, I'm also willing to leave all that credit on the table- I mean we have to buy curriculum anyway from somewhere, as the subjects are now much more involved, I don't mind buying products, however, I'm very sensitive to crappy products and I'll drop them in a second if they start to feel like hunt and peck robot courses. They only get one k-12 education, so "learning" is ultimately the most important. Sadly, I have never found a curriculum that did exactly what I expected it to do- maybe tht can be my project when I'm an empty nester. lol

So, my plan for my 9th grader (today- as for tomorrow who knows) is to do 1 semester and if Study.com is great, then I might let him do an entire BA at TESC while dual enrolling here. Then instead of applying to college for undergrad, he can just go to grad school straight from here.

My 11th grader's plan is for a different day.

I'm a huge fan of study.com's material (Sophia's as well). With all the reading I have had to do, I LOVE having a video to watch. Haven't used any of it for ACE credit, but i've used quite a bit for general study. They do a good job of presenting material that can be really boring in an interesting way.

What is the homeschool co-op discount?
Currently studying for: Still deciding.
