the only thing I'm not seeing already mentioned is the advanced placement exam set. http://www.collegeboard.edu

Ahhh..I did not add those because for most of us, they're not applicable. Here's the info I got from the College Board regarding taking AP exams:

"College and post-high school students may take the AP exam only if they can find a high school willing to admit them. ... If you want to take an AP Exam, you must locate a school willing to test you. Once you locate a school willing to administer the exams, that school's AP Coordinator is responsible for ordering your exam materials, telling you when and where to appear for the exams, and collecting your fees (which he or she may negotiate to recover additional proctoring or administration costs). ...Bear in mind, the schools are not obligated to accommodate you. A photo ID is required for students not known personally by the school administrators."

This applies to homeschooled students as well as high school grads. For my son who is taking Latin, there are no CLEP exams for that. But there are 2 AP exams. I would have to call local high schools to see if they would be willing to admit him, AND if they were giving the Latin exams; I don't think they have to give all the AP exams, even if they give some of them.

And, if I know administrative personnel in schools, I'm willing to bet that many of them would tell me that only high school students were allowed to take it, or that they couldn't (not "didn't have to") allow anyone not enrolled at their school to take it, or any number of things that were not correct.

But I could be wrong!! I'd actually love to be wrong. I will do a little research and see what answers I get...both public, public charter, and private schools here, and in a more affluent area. I'll let you know what I hear back.
