It really depends on the field you're studying and your professors' backgrounds. My professors with military backgrounds in my security studies program leaned a little to the right. Criminal justice, overall, is a conservative field. Some of the criminology professors with sociology backgrounds will lean to the left, but the ones with law enforcement and military backgrounds will often lean to the right. In the end, there really isn't that much division between them because they all know how to recognize good and bad research. They accept the findings of good research.
