One-time $4500 allowance for a certificate? Any recommendations? (TA-related)

There will be a big box that says how much TA you have left for that year, and how much ($4500) you have left for certifications.
When i first joined in 2005 it was $10k, i should have taken advantage of that then. not sure when it changed.

I am. What I'm curious about is what exactly falls within the realm of what's acceptable for the certs. At this point I'm looking into what sanantone posted, as a lot of it sounds fascinating to me.
