New Job in a New City!!!

OMG... well here is BIG news for me and my family and a DIRECT result of the BS from COSC and the MBA. Over the past few years as I've been studying, I have gotten couple of promotions due to hard work and the increased education levels -and just a month ago was made VP of Global Sales in my company. However.. In spite of many positives at my current job, the negatives outweighed the good and I started actively seeking a new career path when I graduated in August.

I'm happy to announce my first brand-new job after obtaining the MBA. drum roll please I will be Head of Global Sales for a major medical organization. I have been going through several months of interviews and very rigorous screening, so when I FINALLY got the call yesterday, I was very happy to have been selected and very relieved that the waiting is over.

However, I start the new job in just over a month and have TONS of work! First of all, for those that are friends with me on FB or connections on LinkedIn, I have not yet given notice to my current employer, so please don't mention this yet. I love the people at my current job, so it won't be easy. My boss in particular will be very tough as he has been a mentor for years and has worked hard to make sure that my efforts have resulted in ascending the career ladder.

Aside from giving notice at my company, the biggest task at hand is the MOVE. Working from home here in Colorado was not an option for my new employer, so we'll be relocating to Chicago! I do have some friends out there and have been put in touch with a realtor, but holy cow! Just thinking about cleaning out my basement alone is making me second guess my decision Kidding of course but WOW this will be a lot of work!

I haven't moved in a long time and this will be the first time my husband has lived out of state since he was 6 weeks old! So, any advice you guys have about either the Chicago area or moving tips would be great. For example, where the heck do I get affordable boxes? Holy cow! I had no idea that they were so expensive.. also I have no experience with moving furniture from state to state. HELP..
