Yep Cook, a few years ago the info wasn't on line. Now it is and much easier to find.
As for why I took the DSST after the online course, the info in the online Art Appreciation was a really good base for the DSST (Art of the Western World). Art App. transcribes different than the DSST so I was able to get credit for one course online then study just a little bit more and take the DSST and then get credit for that test.
That will be the plan for Planetary Science and Astronomy (which transcribes as PHY195). With that solid base of info, my sister should be able to study a bit more and then take the DSST (Intro to Astronomy).
