They way he(mm1988) explined it was correct. There are two different percentages involved with the new gi bill. One is the number of months you have left(what you are talking about), and the other is the amount you are eligible for each month(what he is talking about with the 50%). Basically, he has been in the military long enough to get the post 911 gi bill(36 Months), but he only has 1.5 years of Active Duty time, so he is only eligible to get 50% of his stuff paid for, but he still has 36 months of that.
