Servers usually say this, "if you can't afford to tip, don't eat out." But restaurant owners will never say this because they know it's harder to maintain and replace a customer than it is to replace an employee. Also wanted to add the definition of gratuity/tip : something given voluntarily or beyond obligation usually for some service; especially : tip
