I am IT, and it seems that EVERYONE in that field, or anything remotely close to it, is on LinkedKIn. I, personally, do not like it... I used to do costume and set design, and LI is popular for theater and film people. I have friends and family that are teachers and professors, and LI is popular with them too.
I guess it just depends on the field.
