As part of my job I get involved with lost and found. About a year ago a class ring was turned in and I thought me boss had run down the owner, he didn't. Today I had to go through some other items and I came upon this ring again, I decided to see if I could find the owner.
Its a pretty impressive ring, looks to be gold, has a dark blue stone, "University of Florida" around the bezel, "BSBA" on one side, "61" on the other....best part is two alligators rising up on both sides as if they are swallowing the words on the shields....a pretty cool ring. The tails to one side are worn away ....this thing has been worn! On the inside are three initials, the first was hard to read but looked like a "K". I was about to call the alumni office at UF and try to track down the student, but decided to compare the three initials against the board of directors...sure enough, there he was.
Guy was pretty happy to get it back and he had actually forgotten about the initials on the inside, he detailed how hard he had been looking for it and was really excited to have it back...I guess 50+ years is plenty of time to grow attached to something.
Makes my rethink my position on College Rings, Maybe I should commemorate my BS with a signet and the letters IC superimposed over COSC. LOL
