I'm in SF. Finished a BS - Business from EC earlier this year.
The big thing about jobs I have found, working in the corporate retail sector is that Recruiters / Temp agencies are the best way to get into any sort of job. For nursing that may be difficult, but I know there are many Healthcare Temp agencies in the area.
The great thing about an agency is:
you don't pay them, they get paid when you get paid - Companies pay the recruiters a premium (one job I saw an invoice for $59 per hour and I was being paid $22 per hour). They are great because the recruiters are putting themselves on the line to get you a job. It's their reputation at stake, so if you mess up then that's their potential future connections messing up.
Beneficial for both parties. If you do well it could lead to full-time, if you don't do well or its not for your your contract will end and you'll move on!
Just came back into the forum today too because I'm a little bored at work :-)
