CLEP or DSST?

I prefer CLEP, maybe because I took many CLEPs first before I took my first DSST and got used to CLEP. Also CLEP tended to have subjects that I preferred, especially for gen. ed. They both have advantages and disadvantages, many of which were mentioned already.

CLEP:

Some six credit exams
Lower price
I personally like the format of CLEP - maybe because I have gotten used to taking CLEPs

DSST:
Four options per question instead of five
Having an account online and being able to access results and receipts
Longer time limit
Being able to use your own calculator instead of the one on the computer

I had issues with DSST when my last DSST exam froze just after the exam started. The customer service was not good and it was not resolved at all until a helpful forum member (BGSU Alum 86) asked his/her contact at DSST to look into it. Once she looked into it, the situation was resolved satisfactorily. Since I have not had any situation with CLEP exams, I do not know how their customer service compares.

I found that the difficulty or straightforwardness depended on the individual exam for both CLEP and DSST. They both had straightforward questions and difficult questions.

Several months ago, I took my last CLEP, and more recently I also took my last DSST. I am sad and I miss taking these tests. I love taking a test for a semester or year's worth of credit and receiving my score immediately - now I only have TECEPs and courses left to do and TECEPs don't even give you a score. But I took every CLEP and DSST I could fit into my degree. And that means I am getting close to the end, which I am excited about.
