Transfer credit for TESC CMP-354 from lower level Intro to Networking???
#1
I have been studying to take the CMP-354 TECEP at TESC. I must score a 70% to pass on this proctored exam. I have an opportunity to take an un-proctored, open-book, open-Internet challenge exam for a similar course at another school for the same cost but I must score an 80% to pass. The other school lists their Intro to Networking as a 175 level course but the material seems very similar. How can I find out if TESC will take the other schools 175 level for their 354? I really need this as upper level at TESC so this is important. Do I just send an email to the advisement team? How long do they take to respond?

Strayer University - CIS-175 Introduction to Networking
Introduces the basic concepts of computer networks. Covers basic topologies, protocols, performance issues, and software for LANS/WANS. Textbook is Network+ Guide to Networks 5th Edition by Tamara Dean.
1. Contrast the three main categories of networks: Local Area Network (LAN), Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).
2. Depict the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model and some of the hardware and software associated with each layer.
3. Identify the relationship of the Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) model to the OSI model.
4. Explain network architectures including peer-to-peer, client-server and hybrid network architectures.
5. Describe network services and software including the various network operating systems (NOS).
6. Illustrate network physical and logical topologies including ring, bus, star, mesh and hybrid.
7. Apply network design principles through a network design project.
8. Identify the processes involved in troubleshooting and resolving network problems.
9. Identify the processes and strategies related to data integrity and security.

Thomas Edison - CMP-354-OL Network Technology
This course teaches practical approaches when designing and implementing a network environment of varying sizes. It includes an analysis of the physical and logical aspects of the network infrastructure and the various industry standards and models available. Textbook is Networking Basics by Ciccarelli, etal
1. Describe the different types of networks and architectures.
2. Explain the need for standards organizations and network models.
3. Assess the characteristics of a physical and logical topology.
4. Identify the functionality of various types of network media and devices.
5. Discuss the role of low and high level data communication protocols.
6. Evaluate the functions of various types of network servers and services.
7. Apply the common types of management techniques and tools to monitor and troubleshoot the network.
8. Analyze the concepts needed for security and where it should be applied to minimize exposure on a network.

Thanks!!
