I'm attending Angelo State University's Master of Security Studies program with a concentration in Regional Studies. I'm only in my first two courses, so I don't know if this trend of not needing to buy a textbook will continue. One course has a free e-book and the other uses readings that are available online on government websites, research institute websites, websites that offer e-books of old philosophy writings, and the school's library. The tuition is cheap for me because I'm a Texas resident. I always advise people to look for online programs in their state first for the cheapest tuition. Angelo State University is also developing an online doctoral program in security studies which could be up and running soon after I graduate if all goes to plan. Otherwise, I'll try the Naval Postgraduate School's 2-year PhD program if I finish with a high GPA. The government pays people to go to school there and has a federal job lined up for them after graduation.
