I'm so glad it worked out for you and that your agent didn't let the other agent bully them. You're lucky to have found so capable an agent!
It's amazing how laws are different from state to state. In Virginia a contract occurs when both parties sign the document - it doesn't require a lawyer's signature to be valid.
