I've been trying to keep abreast of what's happening with online options for more technical degrees. I thought you all might be interested in the latest. Here's a few offerings that are almost ready to go or just being launched:
Stonybrook University: Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Online
Applicants are being accepted for this degree, which only offers upper-level electrical engineering courses. In my opinion, it was brilliant of Stonybrook to only focus on developing upper-level courses, which reduced the time needed to develop this degree program considerably. Stonybrook is working with ABET to insure that this degree will be accredited upon the matriculation of it's first class. This means that Stonybrook will be the only school other than the University of North Dakota to offer an ABET accredited online engineering degree (there are other schools that offer engineering technology degrees accredited by ABET, but in most states this won't allow you to become a licensed engineer).
Athabasca University: Bachelor of Science in Architecture
There are tons of options for online Master's in Architecture, but this will be the first online Bachelor of architecture degree ever. Athabasca is a Canadian university that is (oddly enough) regionally accredited in the U.S. This degree is in it's final planning stage, and the Canadian accreditor of architectural degrees (CACB) will be accrediting this degree. The CACB is recognized by the American accreditor of architectural degrees (NAAB).
Hope someone finds this interesting
