It's sometimes useful in getting student discounts and academic pricing. I have a .edu address from another school and that's all I've ever used it for.
Did you get a college email address?

Last year, Amazon.com offered one year of free Prime shipping for students with a .edu address.

I was looking forward to enrolling TESC until I found out that they don't assign current students .edu addresses. Probably the only con in my opinion.
.edu addresses are helpful for student discounts on computer software and textbooks. Oh well.

You only need fax, email or upload a pic/scan of your student ID or a schedule for academic software from JourneyED. For the computers you use the links from the student website and it brings you to the computer company university sites with the discount already built in. I've saved boatloads of cash between my Dell computers and JourneyEd. "Setting a goal is not the main thing. bricabrac, I had not heard of JourneyEd before and explored the site. You are right, you can save a boatloads of cash for software. Thanks so much for mentioning this!

Not sure what school you attend, but make sure to click on the do I qualify button. Enter college, your state and school name and you are now in a special section that has even better pricing. I am not enrolled as of yet. I am about to begin the journey of "collecting credits" (waiting on books); However, my daughter is beginning a Master's program in about 3 weeks. So, either way, the info will come in useful.
I have an Associates degree, but am working on credits for my Bachelor's. I always promised myself that I would return to school and get a higher degree, but life happens. I am now suffering from "empty-nest" syndrome and boredom. The Bachelor's is more for personal satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment more than anything. (And, I gotta catch up to the kid lol).
