I've decided to stop working on it for now and move on to some other exams I need. Once I finish those I'll come back to this. It was just frustrating me too much right now.

Sign up for an account, it's free. They have a book on elementary algebra which is free to read online. They have other books on other subjects too that are free to read online. It looks like a great resource!
