Steve..I would highly recommend hiring someone to contact big corporations such as those in the medical field and retail. The idea of instantcert would be a home run for nurses, techs, adminstrators and more in the medical field. In retail there is a tremendous corporate push for young execs to either get their degrees or add onto what they already have. From a corporate standpoint, where I came out of, many corporations are willing to pay their employees educational expenses to help them get the added education . The associate would love to have a faster, no classroom opportunity, and corporately the cost savings would be attractive to say the least. Our son is the marketing V.P. for CITIGROUP, and I know he would be a tremendous resource for Instantcert. Groups such as The Limited, I.B.M., and the Mayo Clinic all offer educational opportunities for their personnel and God knows these are just a few of the huge companies looking to offer an added benefit to their personnel for retention purposes. I'd be happy to prove to you that it can be done!!!
Take care..Ron

Hey Ron--
I'll send you a PM later this weekend to discuss your idea further. We briefly tried something along the lines of what you're talking about, but you may have some specifics to your idea that could help make things work.
Talk to you soon,
Steve

I was ready over this forum and am new to the IC and myspace...
I thought what was posted was some interesting info...so I posted a blog on my myspace with my story and a link this site. I have a number of friends in school....Imaybe this will link up another group with this site....I think that maybe having a link to it from your main site would be helpful for people to post on the myspace what they thought about IC and how it helps them. I think it allows for some to see real people and there stories and not just an ad.
I don't think it would hurt anyway.

I am not really sure if this is on topic or not, but what about making the flash cards available for the Pocket PC's? I would like to be able to Download a package and view them on my PDA while disconnected from a network.

We don't offer the materials in a download format mainly due to piracy concerns.

I was wondering why InstantCert does not currently have study material for Astronomy. The subject does not seem overly broad, and I think it would be a good addition to the already vast amount of material offered. Is there a particular reason for there not being any material, or is it simply a matter of no one having written it yet?

The main reason it hasn't been offered is because there hasn't been much demand for the subject (as far as I've been able to tell). There has been a good amount of demand for upper-level credits; that's why we've been focusing on ECEs lately...

Steve,
I've read through all these posts. I definitely think putting up a MySpace page would be a GREAT way to go!! Knowing that it's free....it can't possibly do anything bad for you, right? Also....with a MySpace page, those of us IC subscribers who also have MySpace pages could add you to our friends list & links, etc. I definitely think it would add value to this.
Another thing, somebody mentioned maybe trying to do something with Global Learning Strategies. Personally, I do not recommend this. Nothing against them at all...I am a College Plus 'student'; however, as such....having access to the IC flashcards and these forums, in my view, renders College Plus completely obsolete....plus, you're much cheaper. Those are just a few of my thoughts.
Here's another idea...I used to work for PerotSystems (yes...THE Ross Perot for President '92), and they're a HUGE company that really thinks out-of-the-box. They offer tuition reimbursement & training opportunities, etc. It may be worth you trying to contact them to see if they'd be interested in contracting an arrangement with IC for their employees. They are worldwide.
Anyway, just a few of my thoughts.

Bump from the distant past.
Random thoughts after a day of study. I know this is not exactly what was asked in the original posts but...Create a premium membership. Charge an extra $10 per month for that service (don't throw things at me guys...)
1. Call up REA or another company that offers tests for CLEP or DSST. Partner with them to provide a "reality check" 50-80 question multiple choice test for each subject area. Use the feedback from the appropriate section to gauge the accuracy of the test. You might not even need a partner. There is enough brainpower within the current board users to create those tests.
2. Offer a short concise PDF on the topics in the premium site. Maybe a timeline for certain subjects. Yes people will pirate it.
That is all I have. Good night and good luck.
