Can you give me a link to straighterline?

Horseshoo Wrote:I passed Biology CLEP on Nov. 20th, 2010 using INSTANTCERT only with just 11 days of studying. I only passed with a 51, so it was bare minimum from the 50 required score. It can be done. I studied 8 hours each day using Instant Cert flashcards only taking breaks as I needed to.
It is grueling but Instant Cert is the best online interactive program out here.
Horseshoo,
I'll be taking my Bio test tomorrow morning and was hoping you could give me some last minute tips. I am absolutely freaking out about the test and I've reviewed the IC flashcards for 3 weeks, but when I went to take the Peterson's Practice Tests I got a 50%, 45%, and 40% respectively. Now I'm feeling like I'm not even close to being prepared for this exam.
Please help!

Don't let the Peterson results scare you too badly. The practice exams for Biology are generally accepted as being much more difficult than the actual Biology CLEP. If you've run through the IC flashcards, paid attention to the Specific Exam Feedback thread and read the right answers for the Petersons, you should be okay.
You can do it!

Hey Brownies,
I'll be taking the Biology CLEP tomorrow also tomorrow morning. My absolute last CLEP (given a passing score) and then I'm done.
I just took my first Peterson's and scored a 65%. I was a little surprised when the results came in because I felt I did a little worse but am quite happy with the score. If the CLEP is at all like the first Peterson's it will be manageable with good test taking skills, mainly a focus on narrowing down answer choices based on the knowledge you have.
I have given approximately 20 hours to study for this and don't feel I've mastered much of the material at all. I do feel that I can pick the answers out of a line up of five answers with a high level of confidence and that's what I'd focus on if I were you.
I'm going to take another Peterson's and copy and paste the 230 questions/answers into a Word document and go over them tonight. That'll be the lats of my studying. The Peterson's test review strategy has worked wonders for me so far
Good luck tomorrow.

Brownies and Jbhowser,
I am taking the Biology CLEP next week. Guys, please give me some feedback after you take it!!!! I have taken 5 CLEPs and 1 DSST so far, and Biology is giving me trouble. I just want this one over with. I have been using IC flashcards, Hippocampus, and will do Petersons next week before the test.
I hope you guys pass! Good luck.

Hey Brownies,
When I took my practice tests for Biology I got 44, 47, and 50, respectively. I was also feeling pretty good until I took those tests. Don't let them bother you too much. Just take the questions as a way to study more. Look over your wrong answers and definitely study the explanations. I ended up getting a 65 on the real thing so with all your prep, I'm sure you'll do fine.

Much more straightforward than I expected. No real confusing graphs or charts. Know the the cycles, CR, photosynthesis, various molecules. Out of 115 questions I was asolutely certain on approximate 60 of them and scored a 70. Definitely not as difficult as people make it out to be and i overstudied because I only wanted to score in mid 50s.
I went through all IC once, read the REA, did REA practice, did ome Peterson practice and that was it. You can definitely pass this with just REA and IC and very likely with just IC if you learn well from IC.
There was more application of knowledge as opposed to direct picking out of a vocab term than I expected. I believe my overstudying helped in that area.
That's it, I'm done forever!

Thanks, horsemaniac!
I took the Biology CLEP and got a 50! A good majority of the stuff that I studied on InstantCert was on the test. I should've just stuck to the InstantCert instead of worrying about my Peterson's scores. I feel that the lack of confidence made me overanilyze (sp?) everything.
I am so thankful for everyone of the positive comments and posts on this forum! Between the encouragement of my fellow InstantCert peeps and a ton of prayers, I feel I was able to overcome yet another amazing hurdle. This test killed, but it wasn't the questions that got me the low grade but the time. If you're a fast reader, you'll get way higher than a 50 on this exam. I was down to the last 20 questions and I only had 4 minutes left so I guessed through the majority of those. Time is sneaky, but I passed...who cares! Now I'm doing the crazy dance.:willynilly:
