Wow. Found a pass rate document online, shows pass rates for CLEP and DSST
#1
I found this while searching for finance related info for dsst.
I don't know much about it other than it looks reasonable from what I have heard.
I was told when I passed American Govt that it had the lowest pass rate of all the cleps so that makes sense.

I pasted the contents here in case the pdf is lost at some point.

This has been discussed at length many times over the years. Using the search feature will provide you with several good discussions on this topic. Quick recap: Pass rates may be skewed downward because of people testing with no preparation because it's free to them.
63 CLEP Sociology
75 CLEP U.S. History II
63 CLEP College Algebra
70 CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature
68 DSST Technical Writing

I never studied for a single CLEP or DSST when I was in the Army (I took 22 of them).

Thank you for sharing this! Since the list gets updated yearly, it's nice to see the most recent report. I bet that a lot of our new members haven't seen it before and it can be pretty eye-opening.

Very smart! How did you do on the tests with low passage rates? Did you end up passing them all?

I should have taken more exams than I did, and I didn't take ones I had any doubts I would pass, and I did pass them all. From my transcript, here is my list:

CLEP

Principles of Management
Principles of Marketing
German Language
Western Civ I and II
US History I and II
Soc Sci & History
Humanities
Calculus
Freshman College Composition

DSST

Money & Banking
Intro to Business
Civil War and Reconstruction
Human Cultural Geography
Human Resource Management
Organizational Behavior
Principles of Supervision
Here's to Your Health
Astronomy
Personal Finance
History of Europe since 1945

After I left the Army, I took Intro Bus Law and Bus Law II, which I did study for. Of the bunch I took while I was in the Army, I think only Calculus and Money & Banking can be considered difficult exams, and I had previously had Calculus in high school several years before.

I actually like studying for these even if some of them I might have been able to pass even just barely.
Of course I walked into the computer applications one without studying but thats different since I work in the industry.
Marketing was super easy but was fun to study and I did learn a little about how marketers think.

I would expect to see a change now that DoD has made CLEPs one attempt free then pay for the pass.
