Ok, so I think I'm getting my nerve up for trying to study and take the DSST stats exam. In reading the specific exam feedback I see a lot of people recommending and saying they used the TI BAII calculator, which I bought. According to the DSST fact sheet only non-programmable calculators can be used. Does this qualify? So my question is has anyone had a problem or been not allowed to use the calculator they brought with them to the exam? I'm wondering if I should take a back-up version or call my test center. My test center doesn't do a many exams, so I don't want to alert her and have her check and not let me use it. Should I contact DSST for clarification and take that with me? It will take me some time to figure out how to use this BAII and then if I can't use it, I will be stuck. Any suggestions?

Check with your proctor would be my advice. I used a TI-84 calculator which is "programmable" but mine wasn't programmed at all, so I checked with my proctor and she just said to bring it in and use it. Dantes might have certain rules on that, and perhaps others might have better advice with specific regards to the type you have, but thought I would input. I did find that using my own calculator was faster and more efficient than using the one provided on the testing screen.

Hey I researched this like forever. I called DSST and the lady there said I coudn't. However she didn't know whether the BA11 plus was programmable or not. I called texas instruments, and they told me the BAII plus was not programmable. Just go to wikipedia and theyll give you a description of caluculators. The programable ones are really fancy. Also google programmable calculators, and I found one website that specified that the BAII plus was not programmable(i printed this and showed it to the proctor). Also, print the dsst sheet that says that calcuators are allowed on this test. A lot I think depends on your test proctor, I had a real nice one and she let me use it. Hope this helps.

Do you have to do the $20/month subscription to view the flashcards? Does anyone have any cheat sheets or helpful information regarding this test? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I have taken Here's to your health, Analyzing and Interpreting Lit., and just took Substance Abuse today if anyone needs any info regarding these tests.
Thanks!

The TI BAII calculator is considered a non-programmable calculator. However, it largely depends on the proctor and what he will allow. When I took this exam, I only used the on-screen calc, but I wish I had a hand-held one because the computer calc was really slow to use.
The on-screen calculator basically just allows you to add, subtract, multiply, and divide (along with a few other piddly functions)....not too fancy. :

Thanks! I thought the BAII might be considered programmable since it seems so complex to me! I'm still trying to figure out how to use it. I'm reviewing statistics dymystified, teach yourself statistics, Schwaums outline of statistics and statistics for the utterly confused. Hopefully, I will be able to find some useful info from these to help me better understand this stuff. I will print off the info and study hard and hope I can pass this exam. Thanks again!
