I have been offered an internship in hospitality. I want to use that credit towards my Excelsior degree. I'm having no luck in finding a school that will put it on a transcript. In order to qualify I have to be enrolled full time in a hospitality program. Does anyone know of a school or continuing ed dept. that will do this? Its like I just need a loaf of bread. I don't want to have to buy the whole store.

You can check if that program has been evaluated by ACE.

I had to do an intership for a degree program that I was in. I was given credit for it because I had to enroll at my college for the class, found the intership, then meet all of the objectives set with in the course. It was a very good experience for me, three easy credits, and it was also mandatory for graduation. This intership was set to be done at the end of the degree program so you could use all of the knowledge gained in your area of study.

Personally, I would think the internship would carry more weight listed on your resume than on your transcript. A lot of employers won't obtain or look at your transcript because they are more concerned with real life work experience. I think it might also get buried on your transcript. I understand if you want to get some easy credit on your transcript, but I think you may find an easier, faster way to get credit onto your transcript. I know our students do an internship, but they are enrolled in our program and the internship is required as part of the program. I think that the only way to get it on your EC transcript is through their portfolio process and from what I have been told by my advisors and from those here that have done it, it isn't worth the time, effort and money. Good luck!
