I didn't understand when that was first written, I figured some people seem to pass so easy and I am not totally math incapable, BUT ALEKS is driving me nutsbanghead I did not remember nearly as much as I thought I did and I get very frustrated when I make stupid addition mistakes. Maybe I am just to old for math:mad: I started out assesed at some rediculous number like 14% and I have only worked my way up to 50%.

Now I understand why IrishJohn was so upset with this thing. I guess I just need to take it slow and relax. I am afraid to put it away for a couple of days because then I could forget the whole thing.:ack:

I will perservere and I will conquer, If I could get B's In both college Trig and Algebra I can learn this $--T I just can not let it beat me.

I totally agree with you Linda!!!

I started ALEKS back in March 2009 and got to 62%...then like an idiot...I put it off because I really just HATE math. It just doesn't make any sense to me at all.

I just renewed my account a couple of days ago and I took another assessment after almost a year hiatus. I couldn't remember how to do any of the problems and just kept clicking the "I Don't Know" tab. I think it gave me 50%!!! How in the world that happened is beyond me.

Anyway, I rented Barron's EZ Algebra along with the Algebra Standard Deviants DVD. The highest I've assessed so far is 65%. I'm going to bear down and complete the Beginning and Intermediate Algebra and I'm done. I was going to do the College Algebra but I really don't think I'm up for that right now. It's a bear just trying to get through Beginning Algebra.

I have been using Mathway.com as others have suggested and I just bought a laser printer yesterday so I can start printing out the explanations on ALEKS. Hopefully that will help me speed up the process. I'm currently 169/262 topics.

I've been trying to change my outlook on math but I really do "loathe" it. The funny thing is...I got a B in Algebra in high school. I have no idea how I pulled that off.

My goal is to finish the Beginning & Intermediate Algebra by the end of this month so I can start my Straighterline courses (English I, Macro & Microeconomics). Then I will be done with my Associate in Science Degree with Excelsior.

Let's keep our heads up and tame this ALEKS beast! And to all you mathfreaks out there...I wish I was blessed with that gift!

What I did was take my time. For instance on the beginner algebra, I used algebrator and mathway. I studied the problem and how algebrator/mathway came up with the steps to the solution.
I took around 6 hours for the initial assessment in which I scored 78%...no I'm not bragging, but I found taking my time was the key to it. I mean I don't want to keep on testing:ack:

I absolutely hate maths and I won't be needing it. I am just doing it to fulfill my requirements.

Just hang in thereSmile

I am taking this ALEKS course not because I need the math, but because I need to relearn the math. I will have to take the Praxis test later and I will need to know some basic algebra for some of them so I need to really understand it. Part of my problem was I was in too much of a hurry. I was embarrassed that I wasn't getting it faster and I just wanted to be done with it. Now I am taking my time and making sure I understand the concepts and it is going better. I took most of today off sick and the break didn't hurt.

After almost 60 hours...I finally assessed at 76% on ALEKS Beginning Algebra. I'd rather give blood from my neck than go through that again!!!:puke:

I promptly got on the ACE website and added my course to my transcript. I noticed it said on the website that the ACE office has been closed since Feb. 5, so there is a ton of backlog. Which probably means that it won't show up for 2 weeks.

As soon as it shows "APPROVED - SUBMITTED TO ACE FOR PROCESSING," I'm going to take a snapshot and then get started with Intermediate Algebra.

For those of you who took ALEKS Intermediate Algebra...can you give me some tips as to the best way to tackle this monster in the shortest amount of time.

Thanks again everybody for their continued support and encouragement...it is greatly appreciated.

You are a brave soul if you are going back for more. I only have 19 hours in so I guess I have a way to go. If it takes me 60 hours I milogy exam so I need to finish this algebraght shoot myself. My last assesment was 50%. I really need to get some studying done for my Educational Psycology exam so I need to get this algebra done.

That is really smart! I sped my way through it thinking that I'd be docked for time... :leaving:

I can't remember what I tested at initially, I just remember slogging away with tons of hours and never getting another assessment. WTF? I wound up not renewing it out of frustration and lack of time. I think I will re-start it in a month and try again, and just pester support when I need another assessment LOL.

Still the best way to get Stats credit IMO, since math is my worst subject. :ack: Even if I took a year, it would be less than taking the course. Heck, 6 months of ALEKS is less than a new textbook!
