ACE is reviewing DSSTs today

ACE | CREDIT Programs Upcoming Reviews

Hopefully they don't decide to refresh another batch of exams. I'm going to CRAM for the next two weeks for as many letter grades as possible.
75 credits in four months using InstantCert.

 Please keep your fingers crossed! I'm testing tech writing jan 9th. Hope they dont change anything by then. BTW, intro to computing had been "updated" and it wasn't bad at all.

Substance Abuse, different story. I have background in the pain therapeutic area and I'm still debating that one. It's on my next list for end Jan/beg Feb so we shall see.

I need those letter grades too!

I've got my study/stest schedule all set for Jan 2010! I had 21 of the exams picked out for 63 credit.

I am going to send up a fervent prayer that they don't change a thing. Those "A's are going to get me into medical school!

Maybe they'll decide that it's time to un-refresh some exams now that there is sufficient data to hand out letter grades again. Prometric isn't stupid... I'm sure they know that a lot of revenue comes from students who want to get a grade and choose DSST over CLEP. Otherwise CLEP is cheaper, more widely accepted, and more study material-friendly.

I just sent an email to Prometric and asked them if they could share any information. I told them that a lot of students are disappointed when tests go from the 50 score level to the 400 score level because it becomes pass/fail and doesn't help our GPA. I asked them if they anticipate more changes in the coming year.

From you lips to G-D's ears!

I can use as many of those letter grades as I can get!

I thought it was the exam developer that refreshes exams, and the school that decides whether to award credit, whether P/F or letter grade?

That's correct. Prometric is the exam developer. They work with ACE and take their recommendations. ACE certifies them and tells them what needs to change. In the case of the school, Excelsior decides whether to grant letter grades, but they've decided to give letter grades exclusively for DSST exams graded on a two-digit scale. So a 65 or 58 will get you an A. However, on a three-digit scale, where 400 is the minimum grade to pass, Excelsior will only give you a pass/fail. It is up to Prometric/ACE whether or not to base their scores on the two-digit or three-digit scale. The refreshed exams are given on a three-digit scale.
