Sorry for the delay but I forgot to mention I did defend my dissertation this month and I finished! I have to give a big shoutout to this forum for introducing me to South College. It was a wild ride but I finally finished my grandfather's dream of earning a doctorate.

Just a quick update... incredibly fristrated with the 7100 course and lack of quick turnaround.. they seem to be slow walking email replies, grades, and the syllabus needs more clarity. It seems like they mark a deliverable incomplete and give themselves 2 more days or more to grade a revision, stretching each delivery into a week or more. There are 20 in this course so imagine how much delay they can bake into this and future courses by being non-responsive, vague, etc.

8/7/24 - completed all the assignments and video presentation for DBA 6635 Organizational Behavior and Dynamics on 8/5 and 8/6, just received professors positive reviews. Completed the course survey.

Awaiting the fourth course loading in Canvas, DBA 6645 Strategic Analysis, Implementation, and Innovation

8/16/24 - submitted the final summative and the final PowerPoint. Completed the end of course survey.

Next course on the track is: DBA 6655 Effective Communication Strategies and Practices Across Cultures

A new instructor was assigned to this course the past week, she was much more responsive and graded assignments in 1 day. Just a bit of an update. I just completed 7110. Had to take an extended break after October due to an immediate family member I was physically caring for passing away. Got back to work mid January after the holidays.

Next course is 7120 Leadership as a Couch Consultant

Major update to the DBA and EdD programs at South College:

We are pleased to announce that, starting May 1, 2025, students in both the EdD and DBA programs will now have the option to choose between completing a Capstone Project or a Dissertation to fulfill the requirements for graduation.  
This new option gives you the flexibility to select the path that best aligns with your career goals and academic interests.  
  
Whether you’re focused on practical workplace outcomes (Capstone) or a more traditional research study (Dissertation), both pathways will provide you with the skills and expertise needed to make an impact in your field. The rigor in both pathways is the same, the application and focus are what differ.  
 
What is a Capstone? Practical application of knowledge and skills to identify and propose a solution to a real-world workplace problem.  
 
What is a Dissertation? Original research on a specific topic, a defense of research findings and contributing new knowledge to a field of study.

Congrats!  An amazing accomplishment.

It wasn't an option for me but I did hear about the capstone rumors. Not sure how I like it. More options is never a bad thing but than again the disseration took everything from me and more. There was alot of talk about how long students were expected to be in the program and very few actually were finishing at their "expected" times. It was wierd. They talk alot about being like WGU but at the same time did not want students rushing through the program but the capstone seems design to really help students get through more efficiently. At the end of the day it not my concern and I hope it helps students, but I do wonder the motive for this.
