Will my Bachelor of Arts Computer Science accepted in Germany

Hi Everyone,

I apologies, this is my first time making a thread and actually talking on this website. I'm doing Dual Degree BA CS & BS CIS from Thomas Edison State University. I plan on doing Masters in Computer Science in Germany.

My questions are:
1) Will my Bachelor of Computer Science be accepted in Germany for Masters?
2) As I'm transferring credits from Sophia and Study.com , will that be a problem for the German universities to see most of my credits being transferred to my degree?
3) I see usually German Universities have specific requirements to have number of credits in specific courses to be eligible for Masters in Computer Science. As I'm doing Dual Degree program with plan, should I drop BS CIS and focus on BA CS and take more mathematics, theoretical computer and software engineering related courses to meet requirements for the degrees.

I don't have any specific German University in mind but I'd like to study my Masters of Computer Science in English. Some university I checked are Hasso Plattner-Institut, Technical University of Berlin but honestly I'm open to any as long as its free for international students and the language used is English.

To the best of our knowledge, yes. TESU is listed in the German database. However, that probably says very little about what individual schools and grad programs will accept. You really need to check with the schools you would want to attend.

The issue with prerequisite courses also needs to be checked on a case-by-case basis. There is always the possibility that the degree is accepted, but that individual prereq courses from alt credit providers are not. People have had good luck, in general, here in the U.S. with their BACS and alt credit courses being accepted, but we always tell people that if they want to get into a specific program, they should do that homework first.

The fact that you're open to different grad schools helps a lot, but given the international situation, and the fact that nobody here has any real experience with this in particular, I'd contact schools until I'd found a couple that are OK with your plans.

One thing some people don't pay attention to is that many people don't use ACE credits for their degrees. Many people have a lot of transfer credit from a bunch of colleges over the years and then finish what they need at TESU. Not every graduate is on here.

I'd take a close look at prereqs. Do they require ABET accreditation (this program is not)? Many programs require up to calc 3, linear algebra and maybe stats, which this program does not. The computer science core is also very much up to you, but you may want it to mirror that of more rigorous programs if that helps you meet your goals.

So I haven't checked all of the Unis but the few ones that I did check only mentions to have certain number of credits in some related studies like Mathematics 15 Credits, Theoretical Computing 10 Credits and Programming/Software Engineering 15 Credits and Total degree minimum should have 180 Credits. From what I know, these credits are ECTS which when compared to US credits is, 1 American Credits = 2 ECTS Credits.

They didn't mention anything about ABET.

TESU has the H+/- designation versus some other institutions we recommend, such as UMPI having the H+ only designation in the German Anakin database... ABET doesn't really come into play unless you really need that extra recognition, most programs we recommend don't have it. There are specific online programs that have ABET, from Excelsior, TESU, WGU, etc if you need it...

TESU is a great option, if you're in the US, then WGU has an alternative... If you can wait until Fall 2025 to finish your degree, I would investigate UMPI as an alternative... Thanks @bjcheung77, I appreciate your comment. I saw Rachel's comment on degreeinfohttps://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?threads/how-to-get-proof-of-accreditation-for-tesc-bsba-during-the-time-of-studies.62481/, that BA CS from TESU should be fine to study Masters in Germany.
I'm not from US, I'm from Pakistan.

I really hope that the grad schools in Germany doesn't have a problem with credits transferred in from Sophia and Study.com and I can get an admission.

I will complete the addendum and template as well.
