Outlier.org sold? Reputable Alternatives please
#1
[Asking for a friend]

Hi everyone,

I took two courses with Outlier like 2 years ago, and their credits were issued through the University of Pittsburgh. I really appreciated this setup, as the University of Pittsburgh is a reputable institution, and having an official transcript from them is a big plus.

However, when I checked Outlier’s website today, I noticed there’s no longer an option to purchase courses directly. It seems that Savvas Learning Company has acquired Outlier and is now offering these courses through partnerships with educational institutions as part of their Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit program:
Outlier Dual Enrollment Courses

Since it’s no longer possible to purchase courses individually from Outlier, I’m looking for alternatives. My goal is to take university-level courses during my gap year to enhance my academic portfolio. I’m comfortable paying $400–$500 per course.

Does anyone know of similar programs or platforms offering high-quality, credit-bearing courses from reputable universities?

Thank you!

TEL is similar, worth looking into but it's mostly GE type classes. I don't remember exactly what Outlier had for offerings.

Edit: here's a press release about the acquisition. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases...56446.html

Then there are other options such as ASU Universal Learner, which is very popular as you get to learn the material and only pay for the classes you scored an A on...

That sucks. Another easy and straightforward option for international students gone. Even their Associate's degree is no more.
