Hello, long time lurker first time poster here. I am helping my husband work on his degree plan for the BABA Supply Chain concentration. I created a lovely excel sheet for him using all the great information on this site. He attended a local CC where he earned 12 free credits towards a supply chain certificate, he couldn't finish the cert because he doesn't have a valid HS diploma. He is reluctantly accepting to complete the GED before applying to UMPI, as his transcripts from high school completed internationally cannot be located. In the meantime, he is working backwards and banging out any applicable Sophia courses. He is not interested in completed credits through study.com as he is not a great test taker and fears the proctoring process. SO, my question is what happens to credits that do not appear on the credit transfer equivalency guides? I have looked up the school he attended and cannot find those courses on there, but they sound like they might be similar.

@Educated Wombat, Welcome to the board, usually people provide the state they're in as well, it'll give more details on possible options... Where was high school completed? Are you going to link us to that viewable (not editable) spreadsheet for the degree plan? Having an extra set of eyes on the degree plan could be beneficial also...
Keep accumulating those credits for now, there might be a better way to get things done... My suggestion is going to be the trifecta of certs, degree, experience, get the Coursera certs (all the recommended ones on the WIKI that yields ACE credit), you can skip the Study.com classes, but that means you'll have to take more UMPI classes instead.

Thank you for the reply @bjcheung77! Sorry about that, we live in RI and the CC he attended and earned the 12 supply chain course credits in is MA. He attended HS in Dominican Republic, and apparently, the school he attended was a vocational HS that closed down and did not submit transcripts to the dept of education? I have attached the degree plan and would love some feedback! Are the Coursera courses difficult? I looked into the one on the wiki and was a bit confused. I did tell him it would mean he would need to take more classes at UMPI, which if there is no other choice than study.com, he's willing to do it, although it may not be as time and cost effective. There is so much information on this forum, I wish I would have found it sooner. I am also going to start working towards a BA soon and will post my own plan when the time gets closer.

I doubt someone who is 39 years old is going to join the military. Yes, while some branches I’ve heard still can enlist you, he is not interested in joining the military at this time. Good suggestion though for someone that is willing.

I doubt someone who is 39 years old is going to join the military. I was a recruiter for a time, it’s very common especially for officers who direct commission. I’ve seen people up into their 50s join.
Just so happens, logistics is a direct commission job for the Army.

It's not common for 50 year olds to join the military. Each military branch has an age limit. And as we age our bodies limit what we're physically capable of doing. There's a lot I could do at 40 that I absolutely cannot do at 50. My husband agrees and he's older than me.

To answer the question asked - when you send the transcripts to UMPI and the course equivalents have not already been established the school will review them at that time. I would recommend that if you have the syllabus, or links to the course descriptions, you provide that to the school (UMPI) as it can often assist with a proper and timely equivalent evaluation. The reason you would not see them in the transfer database now is that as of now, no one has tried to transfer those specific courses.
I would encourage him to apply now and send the transcripts he has. There is no benefit in waiting to apply, as it takes time to get existing credits evaluated. Applying now doesn't mean he would have to start any earlier than he's planning to do so, but always good to know where you officially stand sooner than later. Also, since he has college credits he would be applying as a transfer student (from the CC) - they may not ask/require the HS documentation.

Thanks for the response. We will work on getting the course descriptions and we have the syllabi and that makes sense as I believe the classes he took are new to the school he attended. My understanding was that you needed to have an associate or other degree to not have to submit HS documents? In any case he is wrapping up the Sophia courses and is still against the study.com courses. Have you or anyone taken any of the business courses at study.com and were they very difficult or are all the finals proctored?
