If we are mentioning four-year colleges, the University of Idaho self-paced courses are pretty cheap. The other day I looked and I think they were around $120 per credit, at least the ones I looked at.

The colleges that partner with TEL Learning or another possibility at $75 per credit and I believe no textbook fees, but course options are pretty limited.

The wiki has a page on cheap regionally accredited credits. I think it only mentions New Mexico Junior college and one other school -- I don't remember which. If people think it's a good idea, I can update the page with more listings.

Unfortunately, when I do a web search for a degree related topic, I often find degree forum.net in the results, but not the wiki, which is often more comprehensive.

I don't know how often the wiki is updated. That could be a full time job on its own.

Are you referring to the Independent Study courses at the University of Idaho? Those are $160 per credit plus $30 fee. Textbooks and labs are extra.

They also have self paced online courses that are $55 per credit. They don't appear to be college credit though as they are professional development courses. They're transcribed as graduate, non-degree, semester credits. Grading is satisfactory or unsatisfactory. It's kind of unfortunate that they're not RA credits because there's some really interesting courses.

It seems that a lot of Missouri colleges have low tuition fees, even for out-of-state.

Here's another one: https://trcc.edu/pay-for-college/tuition-fees/

$146 per credit hour.

Tiered Tuition Rates

    Tier One: Base Tuition
Tier Two: Base Tuition plus $4 per credit hour
Tier Three: Base Tuition plus $81 per credit hour
Tier Four: Base Tuition plus $205 per credit hour

Tiered Tuition is separated by class type. Listed along with the course number and section number, each course has a class type. For example, Accounting has a class type of ACCT and Biology has a class type of BIOL. To determine your total cost of tuition, locate your course on the list of course offerings and use its class type to see what tier it falls under. For tiers two through four, you will need to add an amount to the per credit fee. So a Tier Two class for an out-of-district resident would be $150 per credit hour.

   $18.50 fees per credit hour

Border Resident 24-25

   $119.50 tuition per credit hour
   $18.50 fees per credit hour

*Applies to Colorado, South Dakota, and Wyoming residents.
Non-Nebraska Resident 24-25

   $128.50 tuition per credit hour
   $18.50 fees per credit hour

International Student 24-25

   $128.50 tuition per credit hour
   $18.50 fees per credit hour

Please note: a $150 registration fee is required for international students each semester.

Georgia

eCore is a cooperative academic arrangement between 21 SACSCOC accredited colleges and universities within the University System of Georgia.

https://ecore.usg.edu/future-students/benefits

Tuition for eCore classes is just $159 per credit hour across all participating institutions and is the same for both Georgia residents and out-of-state students.

Hey Cool,
Yeah, out-of-state tuition can be a real kicker, especially when you're looking at online options. The good news is there are definitely some more affordable community colleges out there for non-residents. Here are a few that might be worth checking out:
  1. Coastline Community College (California): They offer pretty competitive rates even for non-residents, and they have a solid range of online courses.
  2. Clovis Community College (New Mexico): Clovis has a reputation for being affordable, with non-resident tuition that’s often lower than many other schools.
  3. Laramie County Community College (Wyoming): They offer reasonable rates for online classes, even for non-residents.
  4. Eastern Iowa Community Colleges: They have some affordable online options, and their non-resident fees are often lower compared to many other places.
  5. Broward College (Florida): They have an extensive online program with relatively low out-of-state tuition.
When you're comparing schools, definitely check if they have any scholarships or financial aid options for non-residents. Sometimes you can find ways to bring those costs down a bit more. Good luck finding the right fit!
