Correct, non college/university or institutional ACE options such as the ones I mentioned in post #28 will go into your Credly, other credits from any institution of education where you take classes and have letter grades, will come from the school or a third party provider. There are other options such as NCCRS, which also would be directly from the provider to the institution you're trying to finish your degree from.

Since Modern States/CLEP offer several of the GenEds and they seem to be practically free, I'm going to start from there. I've got a few questions though:

1. Modern States Chemistry is said to cover CHY 111 and CHY 112. Does this mean it would give 8 credits total, since CHY 111 and CHY 112 give 4 credits each?

2. What does Modern States French cover? The website says it covers Level 1 and Level 2 content, so would it be equivalent to French at both the Beginner and Intermediate levels at UMPI?

3. The following 12 courses are the only ones from my program that seem to be offered only at UMPI. Do you know if I could find two of them somewhere else, so that I could only take the required 10 UL at UMPI?

Sophia may be more efficient, but Modern States is hard to beat on price (free).

2. It covers the entire French CLEP test. How many credits you receive is driven by your score - 50 gets you 6 credits (FRE101 and FRE102), 59+ gets you 9 credits total (FRE101, 102 + an elective).
3. Defer to others
4. Humanities 201 at Study.com but that is longer than Visual Communications as well as more expensive
5. Several folks have completed 10 or even more classes in one session, but it appears less frequent after the move to Brightspace. It will depend on your own speed and the grading. Most folks here seem to do 2-3 sessions.

You can do a mix/match approach with the credits, I would work on CLEP/MS if Sophia.org doesn't provide the same courses for credit and vice versa, this is to max your transfer of credits towards the degree of choice. I suggest creating the spreadsheet of degree requirements, then follow the WIKI for recommendations, link us to your Google/One drive and make the file viewable (not editable), we can recommend changes if any are needed...

And also, they just wrote me telling me of their requirements for enrollment. They need my high school diploma and university education from Argentina to be translated and sent by an evaluation service. I've been looking this up and it seems extremely expensive and just a bummer... I asked my mom to get ahold of my high school diploma in person (they don't have a website or anything, it's a very basic public school), maybe she can mail it to me. It's silly because FSU only asked for the plain transcripts, no fancy evaluations or anything. I just read on reddit that someone spent like $600 on WES and it doesn't seem fair, that's like six months worth of Sophia! I'll ask them if they have a waiver. And if they don't, are there any other options you can point me to in my situation? (I don't care much about the major at this point.) Or budget friendly translation/evaluation services that you recommend? Thanks!

Depending on exactly who you're talking to, they're either very busy (and thus prone to confusion) or else they're very wrong.

They heard "international student" and missed or ignored that you already have an American Associate degree. This changes everything. Once you have an Associate degree, UMPI does not need your HS diploma, transcript, etc. And you only need to send in your Argentinian credits if you want UMPI to use them toward your degree. Otherwise, you can safely ignore them. Don't bother to ask for a waiver or anything. It's not needed. It's a different school system, in an entirely different country, and UMPI won't even know about your attendance if you don't send them an evaluation.

I wouldn't bother.

As you note, Sophia is way cheaper, and likely more relevant.

If someone does ask about why you didn't send in your "international" transcripts, you can always say that you were mistaken and that you don't have any credits to send them. Which would be true, though perhaps not in the same way that they'd understand.

Did you already complete (most of) your Sophia/SDC credits beforehand? Although you can transfer in credits later, it's generally not recommended because it may wind up costing you more time/money in the long run.

That's correct, generally you want to complete as many Sophia.org classes as possible to transfer 90+ credits into the degree, even though they will allow a max of 90. You'll just have to make sure to complete the 30 residency credit requirements and select from the classes that go towards the degree that can't be transferred in. Create a spreadsheet of the degree requirements to keep reference and track your progress...
