I've been searching the forum and haven't found an answer to this question, but I apologize if I overlooked and this question is redudant.
Does this advice still apply as of November 2023? I know that UMPI is very backed up and I'd like to get applied for the January term if possible. Should I go ahead and apply and send in my transcripts to see where I am credits-wise? Considering the BABA Management / Leadership - https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UM...egree_Plan
Background:
I was originally planning on going to WGU - in fact I'm applied and already sent in my transcripts and all that. But the more I read about the proctor issues the less I'm liking it. I came across UMPI on youtube and eventually found this forum. I'm not sure exactly how many credits I can transfer in from my college days, but WGU only gave me 23 towards their program. I've also been racking up Sophia credits, but so far only those specifically related to my program at WGU. Got another 24 from Sophia I can transfer.
Thanks for any advice!
You need to apply to UMPI for your transcripts to be evaluated. They won't do it without an application. If you want to start in January, you should apply now. It takes several weeks for the application and transcripts to be processed. Do NOT wait until the date listed on the YourPace website or else you won't be able to start in January. UMPI is basically shutdown the last 2 weeks of December. You can also take more classes from Sophia and transfer them to UMPI once you're enrolled. You can continue taking classes from Sophia while your application is processed as well. You'll just need to send in an updated transcript.

It still applies, yes. But if you already have a substantial amount of credits (sounds like you've got at least 50), it should be fine. The problem comes with students who have completed maybe 4 Sophia classes and who are pressured into enrolling by the "enrollment specialists". For students who still have a lot of SDC/Sophia credits to transfer in, applying and starting before they're actually ready will actually slow them down - not speed them up.

Edit Reason: more info added
)
Following the advice given to Darknigh7's inquiry for January's start date, I'm going to apply at UMPI. Before I do:
1. Does anyone have insight into the "special application process for Canadian students" due to their proximity to us? I can't find the posts that talked about that using the search function. *edit: I think this is only in the case that I have Canadian credits to transfer in, which I do not. But interested in someone validating this for me!
2. I attended a community college before a university (both in the US) and my community college credits are on my university transcript as transfer credits, with grades. This means I won't need to send a transcript from the community college, right?
3. I am going to request to complete an additional minor (Business Administration) in addition to the BLS, minor in Management -- should I request this *after* applying once I'm assigned to an advisor?
4. I am 90% sure I can start on the January intake but in case I cannot, is it difficult to have admission deferred to the following intake?
Thank you very much!!

You need to send ALL of your transcripts! They need to be official transcripts sent by the college.

Deferment is a breeze. All you do is email your academic advisor to delay your start date. You can continue taking courses on Sophia or elsewhere while enrolled at UMPI.

Looks like Shea isn't working with YourPace anymore:
"Thank you for reaching out!
If you are a YourPace student or inquiring about the YourPace program,
please email umpi-yourpace@maine.edu. I am no longer working at the
University under this department.
If you are a traditional student in one of my courses, I will email
you back within 2-3 days."

WOW!!! Her about page on the UMPI website hasn't been updated. It still lists her as the YourPace admissions coordinator.

Exactly!!! That's what I checked before mailing her. Forwarded my questions to the general YourPace program email.
