Question about Pierpont Associates Math/Science requirement
#1
For the Pierpont Associates Math/Science requirement, do you actually need one math and one science course, or can you satisfy the requirement with two math or two science courses?

Right now I have credits for Environmental Science, and Human Biology from Sophia. Would these two fulfill the requirement? I've also done Intro to College Math, but according to the wiki, that course isn't eligible. I'd like to know for sure whether I need a math course credit before applying for the degree.

For reference, here are the courses I've completed at Sophia:
Art History I
Art History II
Conflict Resolution
Developing Effective Teams
Environmental Science
The Essentials of Managing Conflict
Human Biology + Lab
Introduction to Ethics
Introduction to Information Technology
Introduction to Business
Introduction to College Mathematics
Introduction to Programming in Python
Introduction to Psychology: Smarter Decisions through Psychology
Introduction to Sociology: Embracing Diversity and Collaboration
Introduction to Web Development
Macroeconomics
Microeconomics
Project Management
Spanish I
Spanish II
US Government
US History I
US History II
Visual Communications
Workplace Communication

I don't remember off-hand how many RA credits I have, but I should have at least 12 from previous college work in case it's necessary. Other than that, is there anything I'm missing? Thanks for any help.

Nope, those courses wont fulfill the requirement. You can either do Intro to Algebra or do what I did and take Intro to Statistics. Either course is fine.

Okay, thanks for the info, but I'm really confused by way they categorize things. If you need both a Math and Science course, what's the point of combining the two together into one category? It makes it seem as if you can choose any two math or science courses. Their website even says "Mathematics and/or Sciences." Why wouldn't they just create two seperate categories to make it clear that you need one of each? Anyway, if I have to do Algebra it's not a big deal, but I wish the requirement was clearer.

You can do two math or two science, not just one math and one science. Others have before. You have filled the requirement with Environmental Science and Human Biology.
In progress:

In addition to that, you may want to decide on your future goal after this, such as laddering to a degree of choice at UMPI, say the BLS or a BA/BABA. If you're going to ladder upwards towards a degree there (or anywhere else), review the WIKI for options at UMPI and whichever institution you feel may fit your needs/wants. Take up to 90 credits at Sophia.org that will transfer to UMPI, they take at least 60 electives for the BLS...

Thanks for the advice. I'm currently deciding between a History or BLS degree at UMPI. I just need to reach 90 credits first.
