Online Master of Arts in Education (French language)
#1
Hi everyone,.                                                                                                                                                                                                                I'm looking for an online (self paced preferably) master of arts in education in teaching French or a master in teaching French or a bachelor of education in French as I want to become a French teacher at a middle and high school private school. The bachelor or master need to lead to a north American teacher certification. I hold a bachelor degree in management and leadership from UMPI (great experience). I'm fluent in French and I can take the ACTFL if it's required for master admission as my bachelor is not in language. I have done some research but didn't find yet.Thank you in advance for your help

Sure there are, they're just not online, so you'll have to do a due diligence search on google or your favorite search engine, be it bing or yahoo, etc...

I think you are asking for something that doesn’t exist, OP. Self-paced degrees leading to teacher licensure are pretty darn rare. Add to that a specialized subject area, French/foreign language, and a pretty low budget.

You say you want a program that leads to licensure, but you say you want to teach in private schools. Those typically don’t require licensure. Nothing wrong with wanting a teaching license even if you don’t need it, but foregoing that would make it easier for you to find a program. Likewise, do you have access to a classroom/are you in a position to do student teaching at an approved school? That would be required for a licensure-oriented degree. Finally, does the degree need to be French-specific? Would a more general degree in foreign language education/pedagogy serve your needs?
Master of Accountancy (taxation concentration), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, in progress.
Master of Business Administration (financial planning specialization), University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, in progress.

BA, UMPI.  Accounting major; Business Administration major/Management & Leadership concentration.  Awarded Dec. 2021.

In-person/B&M: BA (history, archaeology)
In-person/B&M: MA (American history)

Sophia: 15 courses (42hrs)

At the time being, for the cost, ease, speed, and to 'finish'... Your best bet and the cheapest is to go for a TESU BA Foreign Language (French as opposed to their other languages, obviously). Using ACTFL for the bulk of the required transfer credit. You still need online classes to fit just a few of these, but this is a Bachelors vs a Masters option. What about bachelor in education (french language)? Do you know any self paced with a flat fee like UMPI? UMPI was perfect for me but they don't have it unfortunately. Yes, I keep searching...
Thanks

Thanks for the feedback. Below are the requirements for the job, but I think it's more for the core subjects teachers. I'm planning to teach French, Spanish or Arabic as a second language in the middle school. It's a private American school in Saudi Arabia. I'm not sure if the required north American certificate is the same as licensure. I am guessing also that they would be less strict with teachers of mentioned languages as a second language.

Minimum Requirements
As the successful candidate you will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education and hold a valid North American teaching certificate reflecting relevant subject/grade endorsement(s). An advanced degree is preferred.
A minimum of three years of full-time, relevant experience in a Pre-K – Grade 9 school setting is required. Candidates must have taught full-time within the past three years.
You will have an excellent command of oral and written English and must demonstrate a successful capacity to work collaboratively, as well as independently.

Spanish language degrees have plenty of online options. Mexico passed a law in 2017 where you can test into a bachelors degree with just 1 challenge exam. The Ceneval is a legit organization and they offer education degres by this exam mechanism. They charge 18,000 mxn to sign up for the exam, should be around 1000 usd at the current exchange rate. The education bachelors exam the Ceneval has approved titulation over is in Spanish but focused on teaching English to school students.

Hi,

I have a couple of questions please. I have been doing a lot of research and found a couple of master in teaching French and master in education but they are quite expensive and some required a semester of classroom teaching, but the good thing is that they lead to initial teaching certification which would be ideal to apply for the position I wish.

TESU BA in French could also be an option and I would like to know how many credit would transfer if I pass the ACTFL and score at least advanced low? Are there any other platforms in which I can speed up the process? And finally how much it would cost and how long it would take approximately?

Thank you

You can see credit recommendations for the ACTFL exams here: https://www.actfl.org/assessments/college-credit

For Advanced Low, the only ACTFL that gives UL credit would be the writing test. The others give varying amounts of LL credits.
