I saw on the UMPI application that there is a check box to speak with an advisor about getting credits from your work experience.
I believe that I'd be able to get some business credits, but I was wondering has anyone had success getting credits via work experience?

You can, but they do not count towards the 30 credits you must complete at UMPI.

Also, if you have to do a portfolio for assessment, the portfolio requirements are longer/more difficult than just doing the YourPace classes.

You don't do the portfolio for the work experience credits. You need a resume and a meeting with a Jessica. This isn't the same as the portfolio assessment credits which are ridiculously long.

@oraibihm, that's exactly what you need to do, speak with the advisor and indicate with them what courses you're looking to get credit for and what you bring to the table that may/should exempt you from the course. Note: For the degree, you may have the course exempt, but you still need to have the number of credits completed. The requirement is exempt, but the credits remain the same for graduation.

Let us know if you have any luck.
I tried this, and got ZERO credit for anything.
13 years working Management & Leadership experience, multiple Leadership certificates, FEMA courses, awards, etc.
And three Leadership courses on military transcripts ACE accredited.
I was told, "no credit because not ACE accredited", or the ACE accredited ones did not have the "exact" name of UMPI's course.

What were the ACE courses? EJPME I & II will transfer as BUS 260 and BUS 1XX.

It's possible, but they don't count toward your 30 credits and I was informed by a professor that the ordeal of putting together a portfolio was more work than just taking a class. I didn't do it as it didn't seem worth it to me at the time.

This is the PLA credits not work experience credits. These are 2 different things. The PLA's are never recommended to YourPace students because they're multiple papers, documentation, and letters from supervisors. The work experience credits aren't like this. There have been folks on here who have received work experience credits. It's a totally different process and you have to speak to your academic advisor about them. They also don't count in the 30 residency credits.
