Hello. I am new here and love this forum. I will be using my guild 5k tuition reimbursement to get my Computer Science degree at SNHU. I was told to follow the Gen Ed guideline here and work on this while going to school. My question is does anyone have a list of courses from SNHU to take in an order that will work to with the max 3 classes every term? Or does SNHU make that for you? I am starting in 8/28 with no transfer credits. I am understanding that I can take Sophia courses while enrolled. But, wondering how that would go while taking classes.

@Yoloangie40, Welcome to the board, that's a very informative post and you've decided on the SNHU Computer Science degree as you have tuition assistance or reimbursement because of their Guild partnership. Just to let you know, most of our members or moderators haven't taken SNHU programs, we know about them and have helped students navigate through them by carefully planning courses for max transfer.
We are familiar with how SNHU works and have helped students preplan their degree courses through alternative credits before. As there have been some significant changes to SNHU and to help you better... Also to get a bigger overall picture of your particular scenario, you need to fill in the template/last post addendum here, I will follow up with several steps for you to follow: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Forum-D...ing-Advice

As I understand it, you can only take a maximum of 2 courses per term for the first 2 terms. That would amount to $4,000 worth of courses for this year, using up most of the Guild money.
I wouldn't recommend taking SNHU courses that involve programming without first completing your Intro to Programming and DB courses.
Normally, we advise utilizing as many transfer credits as possible before enrolling in school. However, since you're not losing money, you could enroll in SNHU and then consider slowing down or pausing your studies later, allowing you to complete your transfer credits if necessary.
I would get 1-3 courses done at Sophia to prove you can handle learning online before you start your SNHU term.

Also be aware of some potential shenanigans at SNHU for Comp Sci right now: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...quirements
You should be able to complete gen eds at Sophia. You may get told that you cannot.
You may want to focus on Sophia courses that could work for both SNHU and TESU - just in case. I think you can use Guild for both, depending on employer?
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA
Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

I didn't see TESU or WGU on the Guild list.

Interesting that Sophia and Study.com are on the list. Does this mean they are free or do they compensate for fees you pay?

Quote:If you’re attending a program outside of Guild’s catalog (known as “out-of-network”), select employers offer Tuition Reimbursement. This means that, if you're eligible, your employer pays you back for tuition or book and fee expenses that you paid out of pocket up to the funding cap in the policy.
Not all employers process their Tuition Reimbursement through Guild. To learn who processes your employer's Tuition Reimbursement, review your employer's policy.
See below for how to submit for reimbursement if your employer reimburses your tuition through Guild.

Thank you. I was gonna check if I could get a scholarship to match and try to do four terms as I want to transfer as much of the 90 credits as possible. That leaves 10 classes. And would pay for the rest. Fingers crossed there.

I did not want to pay out of pocket at all and SNHU was the college that accepted the most transfer credits between Oregon state and university of maryland global.

Interesting, the original post mentioned no transfer credits, yet your last post mentioned SNHU accepted the most transfer. That's the reason we like to see your courses listed out or an evaluation pdf/picture. You want to get in contact with Guild and verify you get the Sophia.org, Study.com and Outlier.org credits FREE in addition to your yearly allowance of 5K, you can start with Sophia.org, Study.com and also Outlier.org classes to get up to the 90 for transfer. If you haven't used that 5K allowance this year, start working on those SNHU classes you can't transfer into the degree.
I was wondering if you already have an Associates degree. If you do not, you can go for the Guild/GGU Degree+ Associates, it can be "free" on route to your Bachelors. Depending on the previous credits you currently have transferred to Oregon/UMGC, you may want to look at Oregon/UMGC and see if you can finish there as I recommended this person. If you're close and have a few remaining credits (like 9), finish there, if you need more than 18 credits, forget it. Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Resistance

Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Resistance I won’t be using Guild for transfer credits. Just for paying for SNHU. What is the GGU degree? I do not have an associate degree nor a degree eval to show. I’m actually waiting for my admissions counselor to email me the list of classes that I can transfer. It will be a fresh start.
Sorry. It was saved. Not sure why it didn’t post: Example:
Your Location: Miami, Florida
Your Age: 36 .
What kind of degree do you want?: I am looking for a computer science degree.
Current Regional Accredited Credits: none
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS? None
Any certifications or military experience? None
Side note: I will be paying OOP for as many transfer credits as I can get using alternative methods.
Budget: I would like to utilize my employer’s arrangement with Guild of 5k a year. I have $1,500 left for this year as I took a medical coding class for work. No transfer credits there. The $5k resets again in November.
Commitments: I work full time and have one child who will be starting school so leaves me evenings.
Dedicated time to study: I have evenings and weekends.
Timeline: I do not have a specific timeline. I want to use Guild only.

You're like me when I started, I didn't want to use any money from the company at all and wanted to pay out of pocket... It won't really matter, if you want to pay out of pocket or not, but since you're in Guild, it should be free anyways (I would just ask for the freebie, you can get me coffee with that cash! <wink>). SNHU has had updates, but I would follow this for all Sophia.org/Study.com courses until you're done, then start at SNHU last. Link: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/SN...egree_Plan
