Is it possible to get a bachelor's degree in anything with mostly Sophia, etc?
#1
In business or anything, any kind of major.

By doing most or all of the courses through Sophia, study.com, CLEP, DSST, and stuff like that.

Ideally with no capstone course requirement. Or course with a college where you have to write a research paper and cite scientific research papers. I want to avoid this if I can.

This would allow me to quickly have a bachelor's degree on my hands. Thanks.

No capstone or papers? Not likely. If you find one, I’d suspect it’s a degree mill

I have yet to find a degree program that doesn't require at least a few papers to be written. Research is part of the process, but it pays dividends in the future.

You could always spend some time learning how to read, research, cite, and write since, you know, that's one of the main outcomes college grads are supposed to achieve from their education...

@OP, You're a dozen years too late! Most of the institutions we recommend added a capstone/cornerstone requirement in 2012. Actually, with the NA/RA debate, there are plenty of NA/RA institutions that have a 90 credit transfer option, you still need to complete the 30 credits with them, most of those would actually be courses, such as English I/II and other writing intensive courses required for the degree. You should focus on a couple of competency based institutions that allow a max of 90 credits for transfer such as PUG/UMPI (without a capstone), and a couple of institutions that allow a max transfer of over 90 credits, Excelsior and TESU @ 113/114 credits out of 120 (with a capstone).

PUG may not have a capstone, but it's a LOT of writing. At least 45 papers or projects.

For minimal writing, you'll want to choose UMPI, WGU, or TESU. UMPI has about ten papers to write, but they're not that long. WGU is mostly exams, but I guess there is also a capstone? TESU has a capstone and a cornerstone, but most of the rest can come from exams.

Keep in mind that ALL schools have an UL credit requirement. Most UL credits will require at least one paper. UL SDC courses have at least one paper, sometimes more. DSST exams are largely LL these days (I think only one is still UL). Coopersmith has UL and is exams that may have essay questions.

You've asked this question multiple times in multiple ways and, I'm sorry, but you're going to have to write at least a few papers. There is no way around this.

Only UMPI does not have a capstone - although you have a paper in every course IIRC.

There isn't a paper in every course. I guess if you count the Milestones, yes there is some form of writing in most classes. There are a few classes that don't have Milestones. There's 1 without Milestones and has an exam.

PUG does have a Capstone for many of their programs.

Writing is just part of college. You need prove that you can put a thought together.

I agree with the writing being a necessity requiremen, and UMPI not having a traditional capstone is a plus for those with a fear of writing. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I know that drafts can be submitted for UMPI courses (so you can get feedback and make changes) prior to final grade submission, but doesn't UMPI also offer a student writing resource service (writing center) that can help a student improve their writing skills? It was my understanding that this is available to remote/YourPace students as well as those on campus?

I'm sorry, but I'm trying to see what you really want to accomplish with that. Is just a piece of paper all you want? There are a ton of ways to knock out the majority of core requirements, but any degree worth more than the piece of paper its written on will require some dedication and learning with 30 credits at their college. Embrace being uncomfortable and get a degree that you can be proud of hanging in your office.
