AAS transfer to BABA Management
#11
For the GEC, yes. Each course can satisfy multiple requirements. Each requirement can only be met with a single course.

Example: GEC requirements 1A, 1B, 1D, 2C, and 4B can be satisfied with just 6 credits. English Comp I & II.

On the other hand, if you have both US History I & II, only 3 credits will go toward GEC 5B. The other class will either go to electives or remain unused for your degree.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

And to answer your question, you will need 40 courses in total to reach that 120 credits. There are just special requirements that need to be hit, and sometimes there are multiple courses that can hit each requirement. Students don't need to have more than the 120 credits, but some will go over due to missing those requirements. As a collective or community, we try to get people to follow the WIKI as it will indicate if the course will or will not satisfy that requirement.

Welcome to the board, that's a direct and short introduction, a great start.  My suggestion for now, is the same I would give to you as I did for this person. Just change the CIS AOS to something you're looking at instead. Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...ing-Advice

You may want to fill in the template/last post addendum just like the poster did in that thread. The reason to do so is that you'll provide a greater overview of your scenario, that in turn will give us a better and clearer picture of exactly what you're looking for. I'm wondering (in general) if it would be more advantageous for me to finish my 17 credits for my A.S. Degree, and then transfer with an A.S. Degree into UMPI, or is it just simpler at this point to transfer in?  I thought of doing the A.S. somewhere to be able to start the upper division.  I read of someone saving aout 15 credits by doing that.  My credits are old (20 years ago) so not even sure if there is a fast-track A.S. online program that would allow me to do this super fast.  Do you have any opinion on this, or just stay the route with the UMPI enrollment?  It's been a week and haven't heard anything yet.

@DolceDolce, I don't know which AS program you're currently with, could you provide me the program and school? 17 credits will take at least a semester traditionally, I would recommend completing the Pierpont BOG AAS instead unless your AS is already paid for and be completed entirely with CLEP/ACE options.

Hi @bjcheung77!

I have more information to provide, hope this is in the right format for some pathway suggestions!

GOAL: Attend either UMPI or WGU, in the most efficient manner.
*I am a small business owner (executive writing and coaching service), and will not be taking any new client projects for the next 4 months to get this all done! I am treating this like a job, and will be in my office daily to get this done faster, and with less out of pocket costs.

I do not have to get the AS Degree from Pierpoint, but I read posts where those who had an AS Degree were able to fulfill all Gen Ed requirements with that, versus having the risk of some credits not transferring over.  This is why I started looking into Pierpoint.  I'm open to any suggestions on most effective overall route!

I'm looking to fast track this with taking and transferring classes from Sophia, as soon as I know what is/isn't being transferred, so I don't have duplicate efforts.

I earned 52 credits Grossmont.
2 of the 52 credits are in Racquetball - may not transfer.
3 courses have an * in front, indicating I earned a D (not sure if those transfer)
Credits are 25 years ago

Degree Path Concentration while at Grossmont:  Business Administration
Degree Type for GWU/UMPI:
Business Management or Healthcare Management. (For simplicity, will probably just end up doing the Business Management program.)

Total Credits:  52

BUS 120:      Principles of Accounting (3)
BUS 125:      Business Law (3)
BUS 128:      Business Communication (3)

CCS 134:      Intro to American Indian Art (3)
*ECON 120:  Principles of Econ 120 (3)
ENGL 120:     English-Reading Composition (3)
FREN 120:     French (5)
FACS 155:     Realities of Nutrition (3)
HIST 121:     History Modern American Civil (3)
MATH 110:    Intermediate Alegra (5)
*MATH 160:   Elem Statistics (3)

PE 070A:       Beg Raquetball (1)
PE 070B:       Int Raquetball (1)
PHYC 110:     Intro to Physics (4)  w/Lab

*PHIL 110:    Intro to Philosophy (3
SOC 120:      Principles of Sociology (3)
SPCH 120:    Speech:  Element of Human Communication (3)

Thank you so much, I appreciate all of your guidance!  Rolleyes

@DolceDolce - Forget the Pierpont BOG AAS; at this point it is just going to slow you down. I would suggest you come up with a plan for the UMPI BABA - Mangement and Leadership degree. Everything you'd need you can get through Sophia, and you may be able to get a few done at Study.com (SDC) to reduce your required 30 credit (10 courses) at UMPI.  This will be the lowest cost and quickest path for you to complete a business bachelor. UMPI will not take anything below a C (or is it C-?, either way No Ds), but those courses you would need that you did have the Ds in can easily be completed as part of your Sophia to UMPI plan - https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/UM...quivalents

I have been reading your posts, now under numerous threads, and your excitement and enthusiasm is clear - but you're bouncing as much as one of those racketballs Smile I will say this post of yours is the most on point, maybe an Admin can move it to a separate thread for you (please). If you later find you need something more healthcare specific then continuing on to one of the WGU healthcare masters would be a good and affordable option (they currently offer an MBA Healthcare and a Master in Healthcare Admin - personally I'd lean towards the MBA offering more long term career options)
Amberton - MSHRB
TESU - ASNSM/BSBA

UMPI will accept courses that are C- and above so no Ds will transfer. I would create a spreadsheet based on the degree plans on the forum and fill in what courses have a C- or higher then take the remaining GEC courses on Sophia. See how many credits that is and if you're not at 90, take some that will fulfill the major and concentration requirements from Sophia. Then transfer to UMPI. I wouldn't spend a minute on an associate degree as they rarely help with employment especially in business fields.

Hi there!
My goal is to be in the WGU MBA Program in January, which is why I've posted to 2 communities ( Reddit which was originally for the WGU interest) until someone suggested Pierpoint, which led me to here!  My posts have seemed to be bouncing as you put it, because as I recieve more complete answers, like those of the Experts that have replied to me on here, I've been able to tailor my posts a bit more.  There have been some really helpful people on both forums, but this forum has clearly a lot more UMPI and pathway information, which was enabled me as well to be more precise.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Wow, thank you @ss20ts in advance for the spreadsheet! That is going to be so helpful!

For now then, you do recommend UMPI over that of WGU (once I have the 90 units out of the way)?

Also (if you know this), I will be applying to the WGU MBA program in January.  Seeing as how they require a B average, does that mean I do need to have every class from here on out at a 90% or higher?  I imagine they will be factoring in my prior lower GPA, or am I incorrect?

UMPI is easier to transfer to than WGU because UMPI will absolutely accept 90 transfer credits. Whereas WGU says they all for up to 90 transfer credits, but that's just not possible in most of their degrees because many of their courses are unique to them.

A B is an 80 not a 90. Yes, all of your grades are included when schools calculate your GPA for grad school.

So with attending UMPI (my preferred choice) this will leave me little room to earn anything less than A(s) in order to get into the WGU MBA program; however if I complete the BS Degree at WGU, it guarantees the MBA acceptance. I'm up for the challenge with UMPI lol.
