Parchment Email for diploma?

Did you apply for graduation? Seems like many people weren't aware that they needed to apply for graduation this session or that there was a deadline for applying. I'm wondering if some didn't get the email. I only remember getting 1 email about it when I was at UMPI. I have 2 degrees from UMPI and still only received 1 email which is odd.

For the March cohort, I received several emails, but they did seem to be written for non-YourPace students. I asked Jessica if I needed to apply for graduation, and she said that I did. 

I did apply for graduation, and double-checked my application. I also requested official transcripts to be issued once the degree has been conferred but I haven't heard anything from anyone. Also, final grades took almost three weeks to post to MaineStreet for me.

Why doesn't UMPI operate more like other CBE schools in regard to graduation?  I didn't apply for graduation this term because I wasn't 100% sure I would finish in 1 session.  Once I finished my last class I applied but that was after their deadline.  

The email to students for graduation was written from the perspective of a "normal" college student and not a CBE student in my opinion.  Seems like you should just be able to apply after you have completed your last class and have them confer your degree within a couple weeks.

UMPI is different than other CBE programs as grades aren't due until 7 days after the session ends. Other schools like WGU aren't like that. I don't know why UMPI doesn't require grades to be posted within 7 days of completion. My guess is that there is something in the MaineStreet system which doesn't allow them to  open and close grades for each session. It's just so odd to wait weeks even months for grades. They only confer degrees after grades are posted. It's a lengthy process that keeps taking longer and longer as YourPace grows. They need to do some serious hiring over there before students start looking elsewhere.

I agree 100%.  I actually told Jessica something similar recently because it seems like she is very stretched thin and also seems to be the glue holding the program together.  I don't think YourPace was initially designed to be a "nationwide" program.  I believe members of this forum are at fault for making it such a success lol.

The email I received back then definitely was not written to YourPace students. It was for on campus students so much of it didn't make any sense. You won't see anything in your MaineStreet account until your degree is conferred. They have been taking 4-6 weeks after grades are posted to confer degrees. They are still conferring degrees from last session. I'm seeing people every day this week on Discord saying they're finally conferred. Some are still waiting as well. It's a painfully slow process unfortunately.

She told me the Parchment emails go out after all degrees awarded that session are conferred, they hoped to have conferred them all by the end of this week. She said we should expect the Parchment email by the middle to end of May. So yeah its coming up.

She said we should expect the Parchment email by the middle to end of May. So yeah its coming up.

I'm glad that the end is in sight for you to officially have your degree in hand but this timeline just seems absurd to me.  I really hope UMPI streamlines this process in the future.

Just got mine as well…and I confirmed my address but there is no shipping confirmation or tracking #…So I guess I am right back to waiting for the actual payoff of opening my Diploma I sure hope it is better than the “digital diploma” I feel kind of rubbed at the moment if im honest…Im really hoping it gets better. My transcript is already toast because of a couple of nitpicky professors (bio 105 yeah I didnt see the forum before I was in the middle of the stink) but hey I am done but all I got at the moment is the digital copy really hope fedex puts it in gear

Good looking. This prompted me to check that email address. I was able to download the digital diploma and order a paper copy. While the paper version will be cool to have/hang, the digital version is what I may truly need one day (for jobs etc).

Yeah I thought it was weird that you don’t actually “order” it, just confirm your address and they say it’ll ship within 10 to 15 days. Oh well, I’ve already waited awhile, what’s another two weeks

I received an email on 5/13 from Lisa giving me a spreadsheet stating they are starting a new process by giving me a degree award analysis notification that my degree is awarded. I still haven’t received the Parchment email though. Has anybody else not received their Parchment email yet?
