Computer topics and AOS
#1
TESU has a number of prefixes and topics that could apply to computer science, but I know that they only count some of them in the AOS. For the life of me, I can't remember exactly which. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but:
  • CYB - Cybersecurity. I think this doesn't apply to BACS or BSBA CIS. Only applies to the BS Cybersecurity. May apply as an AOS elective for BACS, under the new rules about "related fields"?
  • CIS - Applies to BSBA CIS. May apply to BACS.
  • CLD - Cloud Computing. Do these only apply to the BS Cloud Computing, or do they work for CIS/BACS?
  • CMP -  Computer Science Technology. Only BACS.
  • COS - Computer Science. Only BACS, except programming languages used for BSBA.
  • ITS - Same as CYB.
  • DSI - Data Science. Doesn't apply to BACS or CIS but might work as a "related field" AOS elective for BACS.
  • MAT - Mathematics. May count as a related field AOS elective for BACS.
  • STA - Statistics. May count as a related field AOS elective for BACS.

I should put these on the relevant wiki pages so that others can plan their degrees better/more easily.

My evaluation came back with the D316 - IT Foundations and D317 - IT Applications classes I did at WGU as being ITS-103 and ITS-299, respectively, and they filled the Group 2 of the Group G: AOS electives for the BACS perfectly fine. Also, the Statistics class I did at my Local CC came in as STA-211 and filled part of the Group H: Add'l AOS Elect perfectly fine. I just wanted to confirm your findings for the STA prefix and correct that ITS does indeed fill in the Group G electives, at least for the second group.

Confirmed with TESU Advising that the following will count towards the upper-level BA CS AOS:
  • COS
  • CIS
  • CLD
  • CMP-3540: Network Technology (only) - the other CMP courses don't count.
There are no ITS, CYB or DSI courses that count towards the UL AOS.

Hmm, that broadens the options from Coursera, Sophia.org, Study.com, other ACE/NCCRS, and even NA classes that can potentially transfer into TESU BACS for CIS, COS and CLD equivalents. It'll be a good option to have a balanced or rounded set of CIS, COS, CLD classes and customize it to your liking...
