I originally started my journey to getting a degree by heading towards a BA at WGU. Through this forum (thank you all so much) I learned about UMPI and Texas A&M Commerce.
I am looking for the cheapest route to a bachelors with my ultimate goal being a Masters, probably at WGU (for price reasons).
Today I learned that I got accepted into Texas A&M Commerce for their competency-based Organizational Leadership degree, since I am in Texas that is my cheapest option.
I have over 80 credits now I accumulated via Sophia and Study that I am hoping will apply to either. I am now waiting on my transcripts to be reviewed from UMPI and Texas A&M Commerce. At WGU this process always went really fast for me but for these other two it's going especially slow. Texas A&M Commerce has been the slowest taking two weeks+ to process my application.
I am also having issues sending over my Credly transcripts to these two schools, I have sent them over to several e-mails they suggested but for some reason, Texas A&M still doesn't have them and no word yet from UMPI.
Once I get the transcripts I will share them here!

Good luck! I have been considering the same programs. I am not in Texas so TAMUC would cost more for me… BUT… since I have a degree already, I only need 11 courses as of right this minute. With UMPI, I currently need about 18 courses… if i finish the 2 courses I am currently doing on Sophia.

Congrats on the acceptance! Please do let us know how it goes, especially if you choose TAMUC! We could definitely use some experiences on for that school on the board. I am planning on going for the BAAS after COSC. I think it will build my resume more in the direction I want to go, and I qualify for in-state tuition. Plus, I need more graded credits just in case I do decide to pull the trigger on grad school.
TAMUC and UMPI are small schools, like COSC. Everyone is experiencing staffing issues and everything else, so it isn't too surprising. I would highly suggest some phone calls. You can at least better get to the bottom of whatever is going on with Credly in real time. Are you sending them through Parchment or the badges through the Credly dashboard? Most schools need each institution's transcripts. They won't take the badges.
If you sent them through Parchment, double-check the e-mail you sent them to. It will also notify you on the order page whether or not the recipient has opened the file or not.
Hope you get it worked out! Keep us posted. I'm excited to see where you end up!

Let's do it! TAMUC-specific board now!

If I do TAMUC, it would probably be for the summer session. That is the slowest work time for me, so I’m hoping I could make some use of the down time.
I emailed with someone named Tara to confirm that I would only need the 10 classes as a degree-holder. She did confirm that to be true, except I would need to also take Texas Government. That is a little daunting as I am not really great at History/Government classes.
Yeah, I hear you. I won't be able to start until I graduate from COSC.
I will be in the same boat as you. 10+Texas Government. I've been looking for some low-cost ways to do it online, but with tuition so cheap per term, I think TAMUC is as cheap as it's going to get. I keep thinking some CC in Texas would offer it super cheap, but that's not what I'm finding. I wish TX was more like NM when it comes to CC prices.

Thank you!! I am hoping to go with Texas A&M Commerce so I don't have to do two courses I have left on Study.com for UMPI which I know will suck (Biology Lab and Business Statistics)

Yes, Tara is who I am working with too!
That is too funny, I love history and government so I got really excited when I saw that class! Opposite reaction.
I hope it works out for you, it seems like a good program!

I will share on here once I get my transcripts reviewed!
I was sending the transcripts through badges via Credly (that's what worked with WGU well) but because of your tip I just sent my Sophia credits over via Parchement but couldn't figure out how to send my Study.com through Parchment, they weren't a school option I could add.
Thanks for the info!

Study.com has their own transcript submission form. It's free and not affiliated with any of the major clearinghouses. I'll post a picture of where the link is located on your dashboard. This should be visible even if you don't have an active account. It will take them three days to process and mail it. Took COSC less than a week to get mine. They'll send you an e-mail when they have mailed your institution a physical copy. Check the options. I think I may have missed it if there was an option for an electronic e-mailed copy. Might save you a bit of time. I didn't see one though.

Thank you so much! Just requested for Study to mail it to them!

UMPI takes a few weeks. The U of M system processes the application. Then UMPI staff processes your transcripts. It's a slow process. This is a VERY small school. There's about 1100 students on campus and less than 150 in YourPace. Many staff members work on multiple U of M campuses.
