B.A. Psychology from TESU

Each of you has suggested very important advice, and yes I have a B.A. in sociology. But the reason I want to learn B.A.in Psychology is for one I want to know the fundamentals of psychology as I do not remember learning, secondly, the coursework for any Bachelor's degree in the U.S. teaches a more comprehensive education. Another reason I was thinking I need a B.A. in Psychology was that am developing a tool to help with mental health, having a B.A. in psychology helps me gain a deeper understanding and provides an authority to do what I intend to offer to the community. Eventually, I do want to combine technology and Psychology and do further studies. 

I will definitely get my previous degree evaluated and check out the BALS psychology that you have suggested in your comments. So far all the Sophia.org courses and study.com  were like eye-opening courses for me. I did all the general education courses, like Biology, Intro to Psy. which I did not do in my bachelor's. But I guess to your point it does make sense to complete it fast and for that, I have to consider other venues that you have suggested of switching to BALS-psychology and pursuing a master's degree from Walden maybe a competency-based education.

You all have valid points and I am grateful for your responses.  My goal is to create a software tool for mental health through the non-profit that I have formed. But I do need information about BALS-psychology through TESU is it easier or quicker and can I transfer my major anytime?

If you’re going to do much professionally you’re probably going to need a masters. If you don’t think you can get your ba evaluated than by all means pursue the US bachelors. If you can can your degree evaluated then go for a masters. This is just my opinion. Nothing more. Nothing less. I’m not a psych major so I may be way off.

For the field of Psychology especially, a bachelor's isn't worth much.  A degree in Sociology would work the same, so I don't think it's worth spending much time or money to get a 2nd degree in this particular field.

The BALS Psychology is potentially quicker/easier, yes. And, yes, you can transfer your major any time. You just need to email your advisor and ask them to add the BA in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Psychology to your evaluation.

Hello Everyone!

Based on your earlier advice I have changed to BALS psychology. Now I have the remaining 72 credits to complete 121 credits total. I would like to know where is it easy and cheaper to do the following courses in Liberal studies Psychology 18 credits (Dev.Psy., abnormal Psy., Intro to Social Psychology, Psychology of personality, Industrial Psychology, and History and systems of psychology)
GE electives (cognition psych222, ethics in America, intro. to interpersonal communication) The rest of my courses am thinking of Sophia and study.com

Another related question is: Is Ethics in the digital age and Ethics in America duplicates?

They are not duplicates (they don't have the same course numbers) but one will go to the ethics requirement and the other would end up in electives because you only need 3 credits in ethics.

Ah, I see. Ok, thank you!  Regarding the psychology courses is there any institute that is better than the other in terms of course work or the method of testing?  For example, I saw on study.com abnormal psychology coursework seems too long. But whereas Coopersmith I am unable to view the full method of their abnormal psychology coursework. But would like to know if that is better than study.com in terms of time it takes to complete the coursework. Please share any information if you have related to these courses.  Thank you so  much!

I've not personally taken any Coopersmith courses at this time. However, I get the idea that they are MUCH shorter and easier than SDC courses for many people. There are no assignments, only a single exam. The exam can be (depending on the course) 50-100 questions. If there are any essay questions, there are only 50 or so multiple choice questions. The essay questions on the exam can be answered in 1-2 sentences, so long as you hit the right keywords. They are not literally expecting an essay.

The biggest hangup for at least some people is that they use ProctorU for their proctoring. That's a live proctor, unlike SDC's recorded proctor, and the experience can range from 'okay' to 'this is really horrific' and there's no way to tell in advance what kind of experience you'll have.

I agree ProctorU is difficult  I have had experience with them when I did my TECEP. It's not the proctors themselves but the system for me was giving a problem and not connecting for one whole hour! It was so frustrating to work with their system. But the proctor was patiently helping and multiple people had to join in to find a solution.  Does Coopersmith have a course video etc? or do we have to study on our own through books? Plus regarding SDC there is proctoring too right? How long does it take to complete a Ul course on SDC? Thanks!

Study.com would be a better option as they use RPNow instead of ProctorU, basically they just record you for review later. I assume it's slightly faster as people can playback the recording at X speed instead of real time and can probably see multiple reviews at once. Each upper level course at Study.com require assignments, so it depends on the number of hours or time you have dedicated to your studies, it varies for each person. If you're into testing, Coopersmith may be faster, but if you want an easier pass, you do well in the quizzes, final, and you can get the assignments done quickly, Study.com maybe a better option.
