UMPI - BA in Accounting plan
#81
7 courses per session for 3 sessions = 21 courses. atmoex is aiming for about 60 RA credits, IIRC. That's way more than 10 courses at UMPI!
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

True! I wanted to ask you guys, none of the Calculus courses at ASU are equivalent to Calculus 1, is ASU really the only option for me with this requirements? (Self-paced, start immediately, take the exams whenever I want, finish when I'm done)

What makes you say that they're not equivalent to Calc I? I'm pretty sure that at least the one for engineers is, it just has a funny name. TESU (which is not UMPI or your grad school, I'll grant you that) brings them both in as Calc I, so another school is likely to do the same.

But, yes, if you want RA credit for Calculus, ASU is the only one that is self-paced and start immediately. Otherwise, there is StraighterLine or Study.com for Calculus.

What do you need calculus for? It's not required at UMPI so I'm confused why you need it.

Same reason I'm doing 60 RA credits, it's a prerequisite for the master's I plan on doing after graduating.

Hm, indeed, some universities take Brief Calc as Calculus 1, some do not. For example, Purdue does not match it with Calculus 1. Stonybrook does. The equivalent of Calculus for Engineers for most universities I checked is Applied Calculus.

Sounds like you've selected a picky master's program. Have you considered taking Calc 1 at a nearby community college?

Since you're going on to a business Master's, I would expect that just about any Calculus should be sufficient. What really matters is what your desired school says, though.

I have, but I do not live in the US. My only option is online. I can't find any college that I can start now asynchronously and finish within the next 7-8 weeks.

It's a finance master's, but I agree, I just wanted to make sure that I do not waste my time taking a "barely calculus" class when I could take a regular Calculus 1 course. It seems that it is difficult to find one though, so I'm going for ASU.

I'm done with Calculus at ASU, no other courses left to take before UMPI. I'm now waiting to start on Spring Session 2.

Any tips on how to prepare for the remaining courses (mostly for the accounting ones) at UMPI? (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...edit#gid=0)

Any general tips?

Thanks!

Per the Accounting thread in the UMPI section, the Accounting courses at UMPI can be a bit dry. You might want to subscribe to the lowest tier of SDC so you can watch the lessons they have there. I think it's like $40/mo. for that?
