Have any of you guys taken College Composition I & II at Purdue Global? I wonder if it's easier than Sophia...

Seems like an Associate's in IT would be very easy for me - I'd get ~15(?) credits for AWS Cloud Practitioner (already have that cert) and 39 credits for W3S PHP cert (don't have it but would be super easy).

Purdue Global has some open learning courses that are free or low-cost that including College Comp I & II.

I believe these courses are similar to the Professional Studies degree which only have 1 paper/assessment per course instead of the 1 per unit of regular courses.

So, after reading this thread for the third time, is there actually an associate degree plan laid out somewhere ? I'm wondering how that looks now with changes that have been made and certs accepted. If they allow 75% credits brought in for a batchelors, it's the same for an associate I'm assuming ?

I don't think anyone has actually made an Associate degree plan. I could be mistaken, though! You should be able to bring in 75% of credits for it, yes. That should be 45 semester credits or 67 quarter credits.

If you are in the US and have citizenship or PR, and you have graded RA credits, I would highly recommend the Pierpont BOG AAS instead of this. The reason is you can get an extremely inexpensive Associates versus this from Purdue. You just need to take a few Sophia.org courses for the general education requirements including Intro to IT and take the Google IT Professional certificate (can be done in less than a month for $49), to get you a BOG AAS for the cost of transcripts!

So, I know this thread is about the Associates, but I’m interested in the BSPr. I’ve been so close to finishing over the past 11 years, and I’m just really tired of thinking about it.

I’m going to make my own degree plan thread today, but I have 70 SHvRA credits and 60 SH of applicable ACE credits. 130 SH total with 34 SH UL credit.

I don’t think I have the time I need to devote to UMPI with work and family obligations. Probably looking at 3 terms and some of their English degree requirements like the internship and working with companies in real time look suspiciously like time suckers that might drag things out longer.

COSC was going to be my next option since I already have the Cornerstone, but I’d need to complete 2 courses with them + semester fee + graduation fee + application fee. And I would need to redo my math class, which I was going to do with UExcel, but honestly ALEKS just about killed me last time and I don’t know if I have another math class in me, I really don’t. The capstone paper on a literary topic doesn’t hold the same appeal to me now that I have a career. Also, I’m ineligible for FA

I don’t necessarily need the degree for my career. I’ve gotten as far as I have in hospitality management with a GED. However, I do see my unfinished Bachelors as a point of shame considering all the time and money I’ve spent on it. I want to finish, and it doesn’t really matter to me what that degree is anymore. I’d honestly do the RBA at Marshall if I could find a cheap way to get that public WV RA credit to meet the residency.

So, reading through this thread has given me a little hope that I can finish the BSPr Leadership relatively painlessly and relatively cheap. I believe I have most or all of the GE completed. Here’s what I have worked out that I need to take/pay so far:

- 8 ASK challenge exams = $800
- 1 Capstone = $2200
- 2 Monthly charges (giving myself a buffer) = $390
Total = $3390 out the door.

The 8 ASK and Capstone should cover the residency requirements. No additional math courses, no foreign language, no application or graduation fees, and no hassle. Get my degree and move on with my life.

Does that sound about right to y’all? I’ve gotten so excited in the past and I’ve been let down so many times, so I need to know I’m looking at this correctly before I devote anymore thought to it.

Thank you for responding. No , I don't have graded RA credits yet. I have looked at the Pierpont AAS just for personal hoorah's but am unclear about the 12 RA credits. I've read only one needs to be graded, but I've not heard of any that aren't graded so that's confusing. I read in one of the threads that the school actually viewed some of the Sophia ACE type credits as RA . I can't find that information now though. I'm in the long rows of preparing for a degree at UMPI, hopefully, and loathe the idea of slogging through 4 more classes to get RA credits when I'll be staring down the barrel to do the 30 cr at UMPI and am trying to get through this Study.com BIO L. ( not loving it ) I am curious about the PUG associate though, mostly so I can pass on the information.

@Tedium, that's a good plan. I would suggest applying/going for the PUG BSPr and see how that works for you. I would also look at the 34 UL you have, if it's acceptable at COSC to finish with just those requirements. Last but not least, if all your courses fit for a TESU degree, you just need the cornerstone/capstone, the same goes for Excelsior with an additional Info Lit. That is if the UL are used to satisfy all required UL courses.

Essentially, you don't have to worry about "starting" the BOG AAS, just get everything to UMPI and when you're done with a term, send all the graded RA credits to Pierpont to add to your current list. You should be able to graduate both, probably at the same time. Another option is to add the UMPI AALS which is non YourPace free of charge as a second program...

I have to take an additional class with the capstone at COSC. They’re mostly UL English credits. Always been a hard degree to plan with the Big 3. I honestly don’t feel like messing with TESU and their wavers. EC might work, but I think it comes out to about the same for the 7 credits I’d need.

At this point I want the quickest, easiest way out.

I’m going to plan out the ASK courses I need and hope the transfer gods are smiling at Purdue.

I'm not sure why you can't just do the BSLS at COSC and pay for the capstone and be done with it?  You normally only need 2 courses, you already have the cornerstone, so the capstone is all that's left.

It would be $1,716.80 with the 10% discount.  That should be faster and cheaper than Purdue for sure.
