One more class before school!!

lidel, why are you pursuing accounting major? As far as I know Canada does not follow GAAP. Sure, basics like debit/credits are universally accepted, but accounting major is not about just basic stuff.. American taxation system is also very different. Same goes for the business law.
I would imagine that accounting degree from American university has limited utility for foreigners unless they intend to start their practice in the US.

Was it not accepted at all for credit, or just not for that specific transfer credit? (Working through Sophia with my son in hopes of him transferring into the BABA Management and don't want to waste time on a class that won't transfer in.)

Sorry. It was accepted for credit, just not towards my major.

Hello,

It was a toss-up for me between accounting and a business degree. When I was doing courses that would serve both I quickly discovered that I enjoy the accounting classes far more than the business-based ones. I'm in my mid 40's, self-employed and my career path is set with a degree being a non-factor for my professional advancement. This is just a more productive hobby than watching Netflix. I'm doing this literally for the love of learning and a challenge. I'm considering an MBA from there and it meets the entry needs for the universities I have been looking at. I've also got a couple of grown kids who are reluctant to head back to school so I figured it would provide some good incentive. My son is a dual citizen and was also thinking of something finance or accounting-related, but I think he's waiting to see how it turns out for me.

I can so relate to your life situations and am in the exact same boat. I'm enjoying learning for the sake of learning. My grown son is also kicking butt on Sophia right now as he watches his mom wrap up her degree. I hope we're both UMPI grads in the very near future! Funny how life works!

Hey that's awesome! I get some strange looks, but I feel a lot better using my time this way than being a bump on a log watching TV. It's been really enjoyable overall, even if it is a lot of work. Good luck to you and your wife and son!!
