Is there an overall word count minimum for the course and/or for its individual components?
People mention page count a lot, but there are a number of considerations, IMO, that make page count a rather inaccurate measurement in this case.

When you start the course, always check with your course mentor for any variations on this. Things can change.
Short answer: As far as I remember, word count was only for the written communication assignment.
Longer answer: in the final project paper, certain pages (such as, but not limited, to table of contents, title, abstract, annotated bibliography) were not part of the final page count. Pages were expected to be in MLA or APA format so the usual 1 inch margins, specific font size and such. When you get access the course, check all of the stuff in the Moodle course. Ask your mentor for clarification and/or samples. It's going to be fine.
Discussion forums did not have word count either.

Each of the 4 written assignments are around 1,000 words each.
The instructions for the final paper say the paper should be 25-40 double-spaced pages, not including title page, abstract, table of contents, annotated bibliography, list of tables, or appendices. (Around 6,000 words my estimate)
