Just completed this course and I'm still waiting for the horseshoe in the glove, but there doesn't appear to be any.
2021/SP Intro to Library Research
I needed one graded RA credit, and I wanted something online and low cost. Registration is easy and non-invasive. They use Moodle as a platform, and of course they also offer a free non-credit Intro to Moodle course. There are plenty of seats and multiple sections each term, including on-time and late start. While the course is not self-paced, it is asynchronous, and the flexibility is excellent. The instructors, all CCC librarians, are available by various methods (including 24/7 live chat!) and are responsive and helpful.
They use Parchment for transcript services.
Here's a great intro video to give you a feel for the course.
I'd call the workload very reasonable for one RA credit. Sophia "Building Effective Teams", it is not. But there are no exams and no proctoring. For what it's worth, I put in probably two or three hours a week for eight weeks (it's a nine-week course, but the last week's assignment is just a forum post reflecting on what you've learned), but I'm sure I could have gotten by with less. I was shooting for a high final grade.

Just an update. Turns out, even transcripts (through Parchment) are free for this course!
Last official day of the course was yesterday. Got my grades, applied for a transcript, and it was received by my school within a couple of hours. It was letter graded, as described.

Wow, that's awesome! I was expecting that you'd have to pay $6+ for a transcript. Even if you had to pay $15, that's still a bargain for a single credit. But free is even better.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA
Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

That's what I was expecting as well, and I would have been happy to pay. So far as I can tell, they allow unlimited free transcripts, electronic or paper. Sent one to myself as well.

Thanks, BJ. It really is a great course, I got solid, targeted feedback from the instructor with every assignment as well.

You're welcome. Good luck! Don't forget to grab the extra credit assignments. "Ask a Librarian" is a great way to introduce yourself to the various methods for getting help on the course.

I haven't heard back from them yet. How long does the registration usually takes?

Once I completed the registration process, I believe I got my welcome email with ID and password the next business day.
