Which vaccine brand have you taken?

Some family members have taken the Pfizer but no one yet has taken Moderna except a few of our close neighbors...  I came across this link advising some rare side effects on the heart of a few "younger" adults.  I think this would be something to look into but the number of affect is very small, it's much more safe than the AstraZeneca option... The thing to remember here is *rare*.  Everything in medicine has a risk of a rare side effect or complication - everything.  Even Tylenol, Advil, cough syrup...   If you are concerned about being in that rare group, talk to your doctor.  They may have more insight on what your personal risks might be.

A relative was saying a few months ago that they were not getting vaccinated because they believed the conspiracy theories that there is a “chip” in the vaccine.  He caught COVID, was hospitalized and recently passed away.  His wife is currently battling the virus. 

When weighing the options, not getting vaccinated is far more risky.

The majority of her blood work came back “in range”, whereas now it’s going back out of whack. Post-Covid she now sees a pulmonologist, cardiologist, ENT, and gastroenterologist. She’s also seen a cancer specialist to make sure no blood or bone cancer, as her blood results suggest something like that. She had no medical problems prior to catching Covid. 
I just think it’s super interesting that it had that effect. 
We are going to be hearing about studies on this virus for many years to come.

Interesting and disappointing. I saw an article recently that suggested that the vaccines cured people experiencing long-haul symptoms. Sounds like that article may have been premature.

Yeah. Based on how many people have gotten the rare dangerous vaccine side effects so far, you're more likely to die of a random lightning strike. I like those odds.

I think you're more likely to get struck by lightning than to die from Covid as well.  I think something like 72% of everyone who died was over 80, and 80% were obese or very overweight.  When you look at those 2 populations on a Venn diagram, it leaves a VERY many people outside of the danger zones.

I don’t know a single person who has been struck by lighting. I know several people who have died from COVID. A friend lost both parents and a couple other relatives to COVID. Another friend lost an aunt. And I lost an in-law. So there’s that.

Plus all the indirect covid deaths. For instance, people dying of things like treatable cancer or heart disease (even if they never caught covid themselves) because the hospitals were full of people dying of covid and had no room for people with less urgent health issues.

Pfizer here. The first dose felt like someone hit me in the arm with a baseball bat. The second wasn't as bad, but made me sick for about 3 hours the day after the shot. A nap fixed me right up.

No symptoms after the first dose.

Second dose, it felt almost identical to how I feel after a flu shot. The only difference was that the symptoms were resilient after acetaminophen, which usually tides me over well after a flu shot. When I realized it wasn't getting any better, I just took 75mg of diphenhydramine (Benedryl) and slept for 12 hours.

Some sources say the risk of being hit by lightning are about one in a million.  The CDC says it's one in 500.000.

But we also have to distinguish between being hit by lightning and being killed by lightning.  I know two people who were hit by lightning and walked out of the hospital 24 hours later.

If you don't get the vaccine at all, you have a zero percent chance of getting a side effect from it.  I like those odds.

I know, I know - you all are 100% pro vaccine. I get it.  I'm just not ready to get a vaccine that hasn't been around for long (and not that it's been in a lab, but used on people for 10+ years).  I have all my other vaccines, so do my kids, so I'm not anti-vax in general, and I'm not listening to conspiracy theories - just in this case, I need to see long-term results before I'm ready to have it put into my body.
