FEMA & FREE College Credit courses
#71
sirjake Wrote:No, it does not cost 60 bucks per credit to transfer to TESC. TESC takes the transcript straight from FEMA and applies the credits. No Fredericks Community College needed. Whether or not Excelsior accepts them after that is an entirely different ballgame. I've heard that they do, but I have not substantiated it (as I'm only a TESC student currently). I HAVE substantiated that TESC does not require Fredericks Community College, though. They do NOT require it.
OKOIE DOKIE..BUT HOW DO YOU GET THEM THE TRANSCRIPT COPY? THANKS,RON

Go here:
http://www.training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/crslist.asp

Then click on "IS Transcript Request" in the left hand navigation panel.

There isn't even a charge to have FEMA send a transcript out. How cool is that?

Good luck Ron,

I wish I had found this information out earlier. The University of Maryland informed me I am too close to my degree so they wont except credits from a community college and all I need are 15 elective hours for my degree. This would have been perfect, but I think I will still do the courses to have a little extra to put on my resume. Thanks for the information though.

Perhaps there is someone else in the chain-of-command at your school that you can speak to and get them accepted; keep going UP. Good Luck!!

I just wanted to bump this up again as these FREE FEMA COURSES are really a super-fast, super-easy, super-simple way of earning free-elective style credits virtually overnight.

I found that the Professional Development Series (seven in all) are only have 25 questions in the exam that can be answered in order as you scroll down and through the material.

All you need to do is print out a hard copy of the exam - scroll down through the material and find the correct answer and record it on your hard copy - then transfer your answers to the online submission form (fill in the dots) - and finally submit and your done. You will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours with your results.

I've done four of the seven thus far in just around 2 3/4 hours earning four new credits that have added and padded my credit count. Being in a related field pertaining to these courses I'm going to finish the remaining three and also receive the final certificate for my employment training file too.

From what I've read through the thread, TESC students may have the best (least expensive way) of adding these FREE CREDITS to their transcripts. GOOD LUCK!!!

trying to find an even cheaper way for fema credits to get to ec, i researched the ace website and lo and behold, i found the 7 course professional development series through the city of new jersey, office of emergency management listed for college credit. to transfer credit to ec, it was only going to be a first time charge of $40, and $10 thereafter. yeah, baby! unfortunately it didn't work out ......now here's the but......
